Lets say he walks...whats the game plan after that?
Have Derek start his coaching career learning to run the triangle with Bargnani and JR Smith?....that's putting him in a position to fail.
Tank so we get a top pick, then try to lure a top player to a rebuilding team in the harshest media market in the world...where another star just bolted from? Who's gonna wanna do that? Didn't we learn anything from the 2010 free agency fiasco. The best we could do was STAT in the most talent packed free agency in history.
There's no rebuilding in NYC through the draft, no one here is patient enough for that...just look at this thread for proof. And ain't no guarantee through with the lottery anyway, even in a best case scenario...look at Cleveland.
Might as well lock up one star, get some good pieces around him, start our new coach off on the right foot, get another all star in the summer of next year, fine tune the roster and go all out from there.
It will be the first time we have two legit stars since our championship runs in the 70's. Thats the best possible course of action imo.
2 All-Stars in their prime, hungry veteran pieces that complement our stars and the Zen Master puppeteering the triangle offense behind the scenes. Sounds like a recipe for success for me.
It's never failed Phil before.
