I don't think some of us have room to talk when it comes to outlandish trades/signings/whatever :lol

Let's not throw stones when we live in a glass house.

Melo is a max player imo. There aren't many in the league and Melo gets the least respect of 'em. I belee that PJ has a plan B, but don't kid yourselves, Melo is plan A. Plan A is plan A because it's the better plan, if not it would have been plan B.

He gets the least respect because he's not THAT good. ain't a conspiracy :lol

i agree no need to worry i trust phil

25 and 7 over 10 years is good IMO. Never said it was any conspiracy, it just seems to me that of the 25 and 7 players he has a harder time getting respect. I'm team Phil because he summed it up perfect. "if he comes back great"

Would rather Melo walk, to be honest. It'd be a hilarious couple of years watching these bums rebuild, but at least Knicks fans won't have to go through the heartbreak of expecting to win (and not winning).

The facts need to be faced--Melo isn't winning a championship in his career. He's not going to bring a championship to the Knicks. I think he's been surrounded by better teams and has been in more favorable circumstances to win, and has never delivered. There is no expectation from me that Melo will deliver in his career (regardless of whether it's on the Knicks or elsewhere).

If Melo stays, I'd be okay with it. Would be fun to see what kind of plan PJ and Fisher put together to hype up Knicks fans for the next few years. Otherwise, give me a couple of hilarious years of the Renaldo Balkman/Al Harrington/Jared Jeffries/Eddy Curry/Jamal Crawford//Malik Rose -type era and rebuild with a different plan that's not centered around Melo.

(Also, when those 2002-2005 Knicks teams played, social media wasn't popping like it is now. Would love to be around to see the Knicks get roasted all season for putting up a squad like that)

Had to take a look in there....

At least they're optimistic and thinking about winning, even if it's on some NBA 2K14 fantasy tip.

Knicks fans are depressing. Cats really want us to be losers forever :lol

Kinda torn on the melo situation but he would be stupid to walk away from that max contract at his age

So they can go on social networks & joke about it :rollin

But there's a huge difference from a Laker fan base & the Knicks fan base. One had actually seen championships in their lifetime :lol

Right?

Some of you dudes are the worst offenders on this board.

I know Rondo loves Melo and vice versa but I don't see him coming to NYC. His game does not fit at all with what Phil wants out of the PG. Calderon wasn't brought here to be a $7M back-up either.

I still think Melo's gone though.

But even if he does re-sign, max contract or not, I'm sure he understands next season is a lost year anyway. New (rookie) coach, entirely new system, new philosophies. The awkward transition year where guys who don't fit the new regime's plans are stuck on the roster and a trial period for some to see if they can buy in long-term. I guess they have to sell him on 2015 but what I'm starting to realize is that FA class is a hell of a lot weaker than originally thought.

Would've been nice to have all that cap space right now with Phil selling his vision.

Melo should've opted in if he's gonna accept the max anyway. Then see what Phil can do next offseason and worried about pay cuts. Either way, this coming season is pointless, but opting in would've made sense if he planned on staying from the beginning.

No it doesn't.

I've never seen so much ignorance to NBA free agency than in this current offseason.
