 Don't come at Dame Julie Dench like that...just playin but I just got back and I really enjoyed it, Javier Bardem was great as the villain and Daniel Craig is that dude, it didn't feel as long as it was and I actually think it was the best Bond movie Craig has done :smokin just my thoughts

I liked it, the trilogy was a good sort of bond origin story, and skyfall lead into the bond we know. Older, suave, a bit slower and it introduced characters. But that rough Casino Royale Bond is still my favorite.

Just got back from IMAX. I really enjoyed it. Its my second favorite from the trilogy, after Casino Royal. I really liked the plot, although I was about to fall asleep in the middle of it.

This movie reminded me so much of the Dark Knight

-Villain he causes massive amounts of destruction

-Villian who is always one step ahead (ie getting arrested)

-Bonds orphan past

Skyfall didn't really "wow" me like Casino Royale and Quantum Solace did, however the villian's performance was on point.

Pretty much. Solid movie, not unbelievable, but among the better films I've seen this year.

the leather tufted door was a nice touch too.

i always thought that wordplay had a role in the bond movies....feel like skyfall didnt deliver in that department....or maybe they all just went over my head

I really liked the way this movie was shot. There were some striking scenes, like the fight in the skyscraper obviously, with that slow piano score, and the shot of Bond approaching the casino on the boat, and even the whole last section with the flame lighting the smoke (although I didn't really like the showdown).

I think most people are used to explosions and insane toys that they don't see the greatness of this film and what it has led up to. 8)

Didn't really like this bond movie because it really wasn't a "Bond" movie.

But I guess it's in theme with the times. All the action movie characters are showing their more human and imperfect side. Dark Knight Rises, IM3 etc.

Absolutely loved it. Anyone who has not yet seen it, don't read past this, I am going to talk about it in detail, stop now, and come back after you've seen it. I did that with JA's post, I wouldn't read his until I saw the movie and then came in and saw what he had to say.

I've now seen the last 7 Bonds. Goldeneye was the first I ever saw, and I loved it. The next 3 sucked royally. Then Casino Royale came out and I was addicted to that damn film. Solace was just as solid imo, however it lost something with the grittiness of it compared to the beauty of Royale. I think that's where people got lost. They also had major issues with the story being written while already filming, the chaos of the money stuff, the writers strike, etc etc. So overall it did suffer a little, even tho I still thought it was solid and certainly better than the last 3 Brosnan flicks.
Skyfall brings it all back tho. Equal in beauty to Royale, the imagery was ******g amazing, the camera angles when Q comes in, the boat ride up to the casino with him fully swagged. The fight in the tower, Shanghai was freaking incredible, the color, all of it.

Seeing him torn down, and brought back, making him look older, and grizzled as opposed to always flawless in Royale. Showing him having to struggle to get back.

The scene in the courtroom where they sit there and doubt the people hiding in shadows, all the while they are about to be in true danger, and someone from the shadows emerge to save their *****, LOVED IT. The wink by Bond to the new M as he saw him in action, picking up a gun and helping out. Loved that part.

Javier Bardem. :pimp: What an amazing job by all. Not just him, he was brilliant of course, but the director not even bringing him in until an hour into the film, and then that long walk with him talking to Bond, the way it was shot, slowly step by step was just masterful. The scene with his dentures tho. :wow:

I was THRILLED when they went to the old school nods with the car, the music, bringing back Q, Moneypenny, clearing out Dench for a newer, fresher face, they set up the next film PERFECTLY, as if to say we have brought it all back to the beginning, moreso than they did with Royale and Solace. They focused on Bond, with M, but not much else, this film brought it all back.

The helicopter scene outside the house was a complete nod to the copter in Russia With Love. Loved it. The whole time I kept thinking about the inevitable video game and having to deal with that. Loved the word play game when he was being tested, and his reaction to Skyfall, only to later see what it meant. Even that, brings it all back to Royale when Vespa mentions that they love to nab Orphans for their double 00 agents. They take care of ALL things Bond in this film.

Easy 9-9.5 for me. Can't wait for it to hit Blu Ray and can not wait for them to start working on Bond 24. Suddenly the franchise is in real good shape and I hope they keep it goin. Craig has 2 more films left, and then we'll see it all start over again around 2020 or so.

For the people that didn't like it, are you not a Bond fan in general? If you are, I can't see how you don't like Skyfall.

Movie was great to me. Loved the way they kept on playing the old ways then brought back the car with all its gadgets at the end. I actually liked the fact that he was human in this movie also. Always love to see the main character struggle a bit. And the villain was on point. Can't wait for the next one. :smokin

The embedding option is disabled so couldn't post the way I wanted...Here's a like to youtube that has all the opening sequences to every Bond flick though Skyfall...I don't remember anyone talking about it in this thread, but the opening of Skyfall was one of the best (in all the Bond films) if not the best IMO...

your review puts so much more into perspective and links the movies in ways i didnt even realize...

i can say after thinking about it, skyfall was much better then my initial reception...still think certain parts were over the top but it was a really good movie.

Don't forget CP, the brilliant nod to past Bond films with "Were you expecting an exploding pen or something?"

Old school, gun and a radio. :pimp:
