The defense played tremendously during the morning session, totaling four interceptions and a couple pass breakups. Rookie safety Taylor Mays was the defensive star of the morning practice with his two interceptions while linebackers Manny Lawson and Keaton Kristick both collected one each.

On Mays' first interception, quarterback Nate Davis overthrew his receiver down the middle and Mays was right in coverage for the pick. The second interception came on a bobble by Delanie Walker during the last two-minute drill.

"He is a breath of fresh air in terms of his work ethic and his mindset," Singletary said. "He's riding VJ (secondary coach Vance Joseph) and Johnnie (Lynn) crazy."

Singletary said he and his coaches are always asked by Mays on how to improve as a player. There was much praise from Singletary on Mays' willing to learn.
Source: ******** agree on Brown deal
The Washington ******** and New Orleans Saints have agreed on a deal for Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jammal Brown, according to a team source.

The trade is subject to a physical. Brown flew to Washington mid-afternoon Saturday, and is scheduled to undergo the physical later in the day.

The Saints' compensation is actually tied to the ********' trade with the Eagles for quarterback Donovan McNabb.

After Saturday's trade for Brown, Washington will be without its third- and fourth-round picks in 2011, but it also will be getting back a later pick from New Orleans, according to a league source.

Washington owes the Eagles a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011 for McNabb, based on how the quarterback plays or the team performs. If the ******** win nine games, or go to the playoffs, or McNabb gets selected to the Pro Bowl, then Philadelphia will receive Washington's third-round pick and New Orleans will get Washington's fourth. If none of those happen, then the Eagles will get the ********' fourth-round pick and the Saints will get the ********' third-round pick.

If Washington's third-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the ********' fourth-round pick will go to New Orleans, with a sixth- or seventh-round pick coming back to Washington from the Saints. However, if Washington's fourth-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the ********' third-round pick will go to New Orleans, with a fifth-round pick coming back to Washington from the Saints.

There is also a conditional 2012 sixth-round pick involved. Should he play 90 percent of the plays next season or get voted to the Pro Bowl, then Washington will send its 2012 sixth-round pick to New Orleans. After Saturday's trade, Washington has six picks left in the 2011 draft.

If everything goes through, the ******** will have options at offensive tackle. Brown and first-round pick Trent Williams can play either tackle position. But the initial plan is to have Williams at left and Brown at right.

Brown has only one year remaining on his contract. The ******** have no plans in place to sign Brown to a long-term extension yet, but they ultimately plan to keep him.

If I were a Skins' fan, I'd hope N.O. gets the 3rd rder instead of Philly because you get a 5th rd back from the Saints.

Either way, you're trading away both your 3rd n 4th rd picks so why not get as much back as possible

Gotdamnit %@@% %@@% %@@% %@@% fml smitty down and muss gone. Who is jimmy throwing to out there!?!?

The 6-foot-3, 231-pound Baton Rouge, La., native played in 40 games with the Tigers, starting 19 before forgoing his senior season.

Jones was drafted in the third round of April’s NFL Draft by the New York Giants and recently signed his rookie contract, a four-year deal worth a reported $2.616 million base salary over the life of the contract.

He earned national titles in football in 2007 and baseball in 2009. The Houston Astros picked him in the 13th-round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2007 and in the 50th-round of the 2010 MLB draft.

LSU Head Coach Les Miles tweeted a short time after learning about Jones' accident, saying, "Just got news about Chad Jones' car accident. We are praying for Chad and his family. Keep him in your prayers."

Jones finished his LSU career with 158 total tackles, including two sacks. He also had five interceptions.

He's best rememberd on the football field for his hit on Alabama's John Parker Wilson, causing a fumble that LSU recovered, ending the Crimson Tide's chances at an upset over the top-five ranked Tigers.

In 1.2 innings of relief in Game 3 of the College World Series in 2009, Jones didn't allow a run and struck out two as the Tigers went on to win the national championship.
