**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

It would make sense to not take Fields since they have Affalo, but Chandler's definitely bolting once FA comes so i dont see the use in getting Chandler.

not being a bad guy. most of you know I come in peace.

Evan Roberts just reported that the Nuggets want another pick from the Knicks.

Woj is on now with him if you want to turn it on.

We can say all we want about the Nuggets front office, these dudes are going to make out like bandits if Melo gets traded. Playing it perfectly when you think about it because the price just continues to go up.

Frank Isola reported the news about the new pick.

if it comes from a Knick Beat writer then I believe it. Youngin is right. Denver is robbing people.

I'm just glad we have donnie calling the shots. I doubt he caves in and gives up that match. I still say include douglas and fields instead of gallo though. At this point if we dont get Melo, its w.e. I'll be happy with aaron brooks/sessions and pryzbilla.

Dolan on his B.S.

He trying to get that big fish so he going out to the water in his boat. Donnie was trying to sit back on the beach chair and fish from there.

I'd be O.K. with walking away, because we'd still be competitive and still be in position to improve over the summer.

At the same time, I'd be hype about getting a dude like Carmelo. The potential for the team rises, but still won't guarantee title contention if we aren't capable of making moves to improve the overall team, which looks like getting Melo is gonna cost us.

Melo want the $ more then anything else though, which I can respect, but how isn't anybody in his ear telling him how much more money he will get in endorsements and such ? He will lose XXX amount if he can't get an extension done before the end of the year, but being in New York will make up for that right away.

I mean even Amare feels like gutting the roster for Melo wouldn't be any good.. We should keep Billups/Felton out of it

I wanna get Melo for a fair - a steal type trade so we could work other trades out for a Center.

I know once a trade falls we will probably sign Earl Barron, but i rather a trade happens now so Donnie can continue with his plans.

I thought he was the Godfather...

Walsh is out of the negotiations.

It is all on Dolan and Kroenke Sr.

Sr. is the one that asked for the other pick if they can't have Fields. Jr. and Marji want Nets deal. Sr. has said nothing on Nets deal lol.

This whole thing is nuts. Melo wants what he wants. Kroenke Sr. wants what he wants.

I rather Melo be screwed out of money and go to you guys in the summer then continue any of this.

Taken from that DH article posted a couple pages back:

This
The Knicks need a second star, one who can patrol the middle, rebound and close down the lane that is now a freeway when James, Dwyane Wade and everybody else drives the ball against the Knicks.

Anthony can't do that. It's not his game.

& This
But there seems to be this thought surrounding the Knicks that everything has to be done now, immediately, if not sooner, as the old expression goes. The rebuilding, off to a fine start with Stoudemire, has to be completed in the next five minutes.

According to who? The great Jim Dolan?

By going after Anthony, the Knicks are showing the impatience that was a hallmark of the years when Isiah Thomas ran the team. But Dolan and Thomas, a basketball brain trust if there ever was one, are consumed with Anthony. More than Donnie Walsh.
Been saying this all along. Melo would be a great pickup, no effing doubt, but he's not exactly taking us much higher than where we are now. It will look nice to have a top 3 or 4 seed in the playoffs, but failing every time we get there will be heartbreaking. Someone mentioned about how it is amateur hour over at the DN front office. Never has that statement seemed more appropriate. The Nets were never back in the running recently. That was smoke and mirrors. Melo would have BEEN a Net by now. That organization cannot come back with an even worse deal for them before the billionaire playboy owner called a press conference to end the pursuit. That kind of makes it look like amateur hour over there too. Melo would be even worse off going to NJ now with that depleted roster (mainly Devin Harris). If you can't appreciate the idea of trying to keep the best possible team together, then you're not the type of player I'd like on the squad. He effed up with his earlier extension. It's time for him to take his L

. He's still gonna get paid regardless.

And last, but not least, in Donnie I trust. If I was a goon at heart, I'd be plotting against Dolan right now.

You guys will not like Devin as a PG in that system. He will score in it like a SG but will not perform well as a PG.

If Melo truly wants to be a Knick, he's done a terrible job of getting his way.

I have no anger towards Denver, they're doing everything they should be doing.

How has he threatened us?

He told us that if we don't gut our team for him he will go to the nets. Our rival that's moving to new York

NBA TV reporting that Nuggets want Fields & Mozgov in the deal instead of Gallinari. Thus far, as source said neither side will budge.
