**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

you guys keep forgetting money makes the world go around to a lot of people. Initially he said he doesn't care about money... But as time is getting closer, those figures that he might be passing up might be getting bigger and bigger to him.

^ melo is no saint... he always cared about the money first because he signed his contract 1 year more than lebron and them... and because of his greed it brought him to this situation right now instead of going to the knicks with amare in the summer

hai guyz. Dub, why I get the feeling like you looked at that gif and thought...where's the orange? not enough Knicks colors: ignored.

Hard to believe D'antoni is gonna let his son get traded.

What sucks is Billups for damn sure can't go 40 minutes, but I'm fine with the deal.

...so this is what it being over is gonna feel like?

we are being tied up tooooooo much with this.

very good point

its sickening

i'm still heated we're giving up so much right now.

KING RIECE i usually agree with most of the stuff you say, but come on bro. We are giving up way too much, Gallo should not be include. And if we include Mozgov, the only legit center we have, for a dude named JR +**%$!% Smith? seriously? You want another 3pt chucker and black hole on this team? We already gonna have Billups who takes more 3s than any other PG, still thinks he's mr.big shot, and cannot run a pick roll any better than felton.

I dunno i just think we're giving up way too much. I mean i hate felton, but i dont even want billups at this point.

denver has more leverage then people think they do  with both the knicks and the nets.

between knowing melo is desperate to get that extension and knowing both the knicks and nets are desperate to make a big move now,  the nuggets have more leverage then teams in their position usually do in a situation like this.

if their gm plays his cards right he's going to get a nice deal from either the knicks or nets,   most likely the knicks because i doubt the nets get that commitment from melo   but i could see that  gallo, chandler, felton  deal for melo and billups going down. when it's all said and done.

great point cedric, everyone initially thought power shifted to anthony's favor since he had the power to sign where he wanted to go, but now.... It's a whole different ball game. Melo still has power to select where he's traded to (See: DEN wants to deal with any team but the NYK)
but DEN has now decided to exploit it, I can't even blame em

This is how i think about the potential deal were gonna be essentially giving up Gallo and Felton for Melo and Billups me and you both know we weren't gonna re-sign Wilson so he's basically a wash Raymond is basically a stop gap PG he wasn't gonna be here long term and its the same with Billups and imo Billups > Felton even though dude is older he still has been producing very good lately. With Gallo i was so high on dude since the beginning of the season but now unfortunately i can care less if he is here or not. IF he reaches his potential he can probably average 20 a game and get a couple all star appearances in his career but he IS NOT a all world player at all and not a difference maker at this point of his career he is way to inconsistent imo. If we were somehow able to keep him and get Melo that would stunt his growth and would be reduced to a bench player i don't see a big role for him on this team if Melo and him were here together. Now onto Mozgov is do not want to give him up but if he was preventing me from getting Melo im afraid I would give in just because were again dealing with potential here would if he doesn't turn into a Kendrick Perkins type with a jumper and is basically at most a Joel Pryzbilla you wouldn't let him go for Melo ? I know I would. The biggest problems with us Knicks fans is that we love our players and ride out for them no matter what and fall in love with their potential which is obviously a gift and a curse.

stepehen a smith says the deal nuggets want to close it out is

gallanari
fields or chandler (i'm sure they would take fields because chandler needs to get payed)
mozgov
felton
curry
pick

says melo is disgusted with the time it's taken for the knicks to put out a great deal for him. pissed off at the knicks for playing around.

if this is true, do you guys really want melo?

seriously?

if im the Knicks im not even making a deal, why lose several key players when this summer you can sign him and lose only 1 player to free agency.

Source says he is going to NJ if deal with knicks doesnt happen or he would resign with denver. He doesnt want to lose 50 mil

Denver could go @$** themselves. If I'm Donnie I tell them to go to hell and pull Gallo back. @$** this Monopoly *$$*%$+! that they're playing in Colorado. Bunch of amateurs.

And if Melo is really concerned about getting paid (instead of winning) and will go to the Nets because he cares about an extra 15 million then he could go to hell too.

Can't wait until this is over. This is worse than the Bron fiasco because we actually have a chance to get this player and it's going to takr so much more to get him than Bron which is ridiculous to think about. Wherever Melo lands, I hope it's done by Sunday or Monday.

%%@ is he pissed at us for?

Because Walsh & Co. are protectin' the team from gettin' raped, no lube? Because we're actually trying to put a team around this guy? I understand that you've gotta give up, to get...esp a player like Carmelo, but come on...that revamped proposal was good enough, now you want Mozgov? F... outta here.

All I keep hearing is how Favors is better than anything we've offered....yeah, cause I want a player with all this "potential" who averages 20 mins, 6 pts, and 5 boards on a 17 win team. I mean...this cat is getting outplayed by Kris Humphries. So exactly, how is he that much better than a Gallo, or Fields (Who is the 3rd best rookie behind Griffin & Wall)

In the end...Carmelo can go blame himself. Dude decided to take that extra salary instead of the opt-out clause like Lebron, Dwade, etc. Since we're living in post Lebron "decision" era, players are concerned with protecting their image and that is where Carmelo F'ed up...dude should've made his intentions known from jump...because it clearly isn't about winning, as he has claimed.

If it's true that isiah and dolan are running this show, I hope donnie walsh quits

I mean we went from giving up maybe 2/3 to giving them half a roster in one day. I don't think its a coincidence we lost all our leverage right after dolan has a meeting with melo. This thing has isiahs fingerprints.

I still give stoneface to that figure. Melo needs some of his people to really figure out how much his $ could possibly affected.
$50 mill is ridiculous as some of my dudes in here have stated already.
If that man stays a FA past this deadline, what do you all expect to happen?
This man literally has a single day in between $65 million and probably, $ 45 million. And the latter, he isn't even sure on how much it REALLY will be.

I in all honestly can't even blame him for" wanting his cake and eating it "

What would you guys do? A team you really want to be on for an undisclosed amount of money that you won't know for several months?
Or stay secure with the financial plan that's already in place for you ?

thank you.

dude wants the knicks to be fawning over him like he's the only player capable of helping the knicks.

apparently greed seems to be the main motivation here, not the will to succeed as a player. his greed is making it possible for the nuggets to be just as greedy

he's had the option to put his foot down and make it clear where he wants to go, but his lollygaggin is making it possible for the nuggets to juice this situation by making unrealistic demands, which can be potentially damaging for the knicks

one step forward for carmelo and two steps back for the knicks if they decide to succumb to this nonsense and give denver what they're asking for

earlier today, craig sager asked him straight up what he wanted and dude was diverting the question like "yeah i just want to have a good time and with me and my friends, family and so on"

you've let all this drama escalate, but you don't want to be straight up with people when they ask you a simple question?

if people are gonna play like that, just wait til the end of the season to see what's up. it's not like acquiring carmelo at this time is going to all of a sudden make the knicks into some championship contenders over the rest of the season anyway.

This. I might have been reading wrong since my last post but now they want Moz and Fields too? They can hold that deal.

It's obvious Isaiah is advising Dolan. No way Donnie even lets it get to that point. He's too experienced and shrewd. And knowing Dolan all he cares about is his guitar so he probably didnt even know how to negotiate.

Next thing you know, Donnie doesnt extend and Thomas is back running the organization to the ground again.

Too much politics.

Carmelo Anthony may be close to joining the Knicks, widely thought to be his first choice, and some are wondering if he has ever seriously entertained joining the Nets by extending his contract with a trade to New Jersey.

A rival executive said, it "looks like the Nets have been used for leverage," referring to Denver's desire to extract a higher price from New York.

Yahoo! Sports cites a person close to Anthony who says the All-Star forward has never shown a strong inclination to commit to playing for the Nets.

"A source close to Anthony said the forward has never shown much, if any, interest privately in joining the Nets," wrote Marc J. Spears.
