I'd rather we make our first signing for a SG.. not for a guy who will be playing the 5 spot.. where I want to see KP playing a majority of his minutes.

Oh well.. I've learned not to get to upset with this franchise.

Hell when Bogut went down, look how GS collapsed. Tristan Thompson turned into Charles Barkley grabbing every board and getting the Cavs a bunch of second chance points.

Thats why getting Noah (even for that ridiculous contract) isnt too bad. He brings that rebounding and leadership we lacked for years.

Sure we could've probably got Bismack for cheaper (or maybe not), but you really gotta pick and choose here.

^ Yeah but the difference between Draymond and Porzingis is that Porzingis is 7'3 and blocks shots. Draymond is 6'7. He is Bogut's rim protection with Draymond's offensive versatility (hopefully).

Listen I LOVE Joakim Noah. I have been all about signing him since his name came up.

BUT if you think that having age 33-35 Joakim Noah entrenched at center alongside Porzingis wouldnt be a gross under utilization of Porzingis' potential, idk what else to say.

**** is like wearing 2 condoms. Just isnt necessary. It would slow down the entire offense and defense just to add slightly more rim protection.

I don't want KP to play the 5. He's best suited taking advantage of smaller (all) 4s. Him playing the 5 means constantly getting banged up by the likes of Marc Gasol, Drummond, etc. His skill set is best playing PF bc he can shoot over the quicker guys and blow buy the big guys.

The Joakim Noah-to-NY deal isn't done, but I'm told the fourth year of the $72 mil deal - as currently discussed - would be guaranteed.

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO

KP will most likely be closing games at the 5 anyway. Noah brings all the intangibles KP wont be doing. The leadership, being vocal, diving for balls without thinking, the rebounding, the dirty work.

I love KP, but he needs to focus on help defense and his offensive capabilites. Let others do the dirty work.

Noah is only getting that money if KD tells us 'thanks, but no thanks." Which is most likely gonna happen.

Smh Phil. You have someone that's pretty much telling us he'll sign here and you give him damn 20 mil smh. The bidding should've started at 12-15.

This x10000.

If he says no to $12M either move on or offer something like $13.5M. Don't ******* start at $18M.

I 100% agree with this. Which is why Im all for signing Noah.

But a 4 year $70+ million contract means you are essentially guaranteeing him the starting center spot until he is 35.

It's just crazy to me how we can have a 7'3 dude who averaged 2 blocks per game as a 20 year old rookie and some of yall dont see him as a center long term in small ball NBA. I just do not understand the logic.

Its like being handed a cheat code in a video game and turning it down.

Oh and for you guys wanting KP to play center full time, why doesn't Durant play PF full time? He's 6'10.

Or hell even center? Y'all see height and automatically think they have to play a certain position.

Yea I dont like the length of the contract at all. I thought 3 years (with the 3rd being a player option) was good enough.

Durant can play PF full time. Why do you think the Thunder traded Ibaka for Oladipo? If they resign KD they will be going into next season with a lineup of Russ/Dipo/Roberson/KD/Adams... Much more well suited for modern small ball NBA than they were with Ibaka in the frontcourt... Hence why they made the trade.

But also its different because regardless you still have to play KD alongside a traditional big because he cant anchor a defense or protect the rim, which every team needs on the floor. Porzingis can protect the rim and he should definitely be able to anchor a defense down the road. So why have another center out there when the only purpose it would serve is to make the team less athletic on offense and more suspect to athletic forwards on defense? To add some rim protection you dont really need, and because of the make believe notion that centers still bang down low in the NBA? Its ******* stupid.

For the one or two centers in the league that do still bang down low, maybe sign a capable backup who is better suited for those types of matchups. No need to pay Noah $70+ mil and start him as a 35 year old because there are 2-3 centers in the league Porzingis might have a little bit of trouble defending in the post.

KD mentions that he doesn't want to play at PF

Thunder already got a handshake deal from Horford about coming to OKC. That's why they traded Ibaka.

People forget that Thunder still have McGary on their roster. They also acquired Domantas Sabonis. They still got Kanter as well. Not sure if OKC planning to trade Kanter

I see KP as a young Tim Duncan or KG type player. He can be a full time 4 and eventually move to the 5 as he ages.

With the majority of teams trying to spread the floor, you can definitely get away with playing Kristaps as a center. Most of the current centers aren't scorers.

Now I do agree in the present, Kristaps at the 4 helps a lot because it allows him to roam more. If anything Kristaps starting position should be dependent on the matchup. If the big man on the other side of the floor is actually a legitimate scoring big man, you can go with a more traditional line-up. If said big man is another rim protector/defensive specialist you can definitely trot KP out at the 5. This isn't a bad problem to have at all. Versatility can go a long way.

Noah isn't a stretch 5 but he isn't just a lookover . He'll bring the toughness, leadership and can easily be the motor for the Knicks similar to how Draymond Green is for Golden State. You can't even hack-a-Noah, he shoots slightly above 70% from FT. The guy was in the MVP race, people are quick to forget on your impact when you're out and he can definitely bounce back from that injury as well. KP can play the 5 in spurts.

But like stated, the 13-15M range would've been more ideal. I'm more concerned what we do with our guard play

I forgot Noah consistently does my #1 basketball pet peeve: big men bringing up the ball.

There's nothing that grinds my gears more than someone thinking they're a 7' point center.

Hey if KD doesnt want to play the 4 thats his prerogative. Doesnt mean he cant play it in today's NBA and honestly I still bet he does next season because I doubt they more Roberson (their best peremeter defender) to the bench.

However,  unlike KD, Porzingis not only belongs at center but has even acknowledged as much so you cant really compare the situations.

I know what you mean

I am still disappointed with Phil's decision about four-year contract. Man, that's too much. I was hoping a 1+1 contract :smh:

Now I see what Nick meant about the Lopez part

I'm still waiting until **** is official until I get mad about a signing and/or contract amount.

Let's sign:

NOAH
BIYOMBO
MOZGAWD
THAT WHITE GUY IN THAT VIDEO UP THERE
BATUM
ERIC GORDON
JACK
CRAWFORD

That looks like a competent squad, no?
Minus Jack and my questioning Gordon staying healthy I'm down for this list.

I imagine Biyombo looking to get paid though.

Well I agree with this much. But tough to justify a backup center being paid $18 mil, especially one who is injury prone. Plus we still dont even know how Willy or KOQ will pan out long term..

Idk I love Noah but I honestly think I would rather lose him than give him 4 years, $72 mil. That one can really set us back.

All things equal though I do like Noah a lot more than RoLo

I find this funny

People called us stupid for giving Melo a large contract

And those players probably make more money than Melo does
