Official: 2008-2009 Fantasy Basketball Thread *Sticky*

Definitely sacrificing assists, but you started out well by drafting three good rebounders/scorers. JJ, MM, SJAX, and most of your 8-11 picks will probablyhave average to poor FG%, but point production SHOULDN'T be a problem. That's crazy that you got Al Horford so late in your draft, unless somethinghappened I'm not aware of, he usually goes much higher then that. Not too many shot blockers, but you have lots of options for three's, I like it, butit's clear you'll be sacrificing assists/shot blocking for the most part.

Yeah I got Horford earlier but I was typing my team in and forgot him.

Note: I was STOKED with my first four picks. Getting Amare and Al Jefferson was great, but Baron and Calderon slipping to me was great. The two bigs arepotentially 20/10 guys, and then Baron is 20/5, and Calderon is about 15/9. Filled out my roster accordingly from then on. Don't see any glaring weaknessesother then probably TO's and possibly steals. Very confident this team will do well.

Note: Was kind of bummed that I had the 8th pick, ALMOST got Dirk, but he was picked 7th. I just know I'm going to KILL in blocks with Brand, Smith, Bynum,JO, Love, Prince, Lopez, and Thomas. I tried to get big-time scoring early with AI, Brand, KD, SJAX, JO so I could focus on other things later on. I'mreally lacking on assists, steals, and three's though. It was a decent draft.

.LBJ and Josh Smith on the same team.
pimp.gif
. Points should be good with LBJ, Jefferson, Hedo, Corey, Peja, etc. Assistsshouldn't be too bad with Kidd, Sessions, LBJ, Conley, Hedo. Rebounds will be fine with Smith, Jefferson, LBJ, Aldridge, Deng, Kenyon, Wilcox, Lopez,Darko. 3 Pointers will be ALRIGHt with LBJ, Peja, Hedo, SHane, Gibson. Blocks will be fine with LBJ, Smith, Jefferson, Darko, LA, and Darko/Etan. Was fun ashell do draft so deep. Was hoping to get more guys like Bass, Maurice Evans, and Rudy Fernandez late in the draft though..

I might have to bump this up to 16 teams.........

Alright, last three Leagues, may do one more tomorrow if I can find one early enough, but might stick to 15, nice even number (even though it's odd $%#),had one 14-man league, one 12-man, and one 10-man league.

. Pretty satisfied with my 1-8,taking a few chance on some rookies and some players who's roles aren't yet known (Stuckey, Collison, Salmons). Very pleased the way this turned out inthe end though.

Note: The thought of having Offensive rebounds sort of threw me off, but I think that will work in my advantage with Bass, Tyrus, Moon, Collison, Emeka, allbeing very capable around the basket. Scoring and assists might be an issue, I think I'm fine everywhere else though, especially rebounds/blocks.

Note: Was ecstatic getting EB and Granger with my late positioning. This team is LOADED with blocks, rebounds, and three's. Only glaring weakness isassists, but stacked up late on PG's with Conley, Stuckey, Blake, Hinrich and Terry to compliment Kidd, hopefully it will be sufficient. The depth at PF/Cis sick though with Brand, Sheed, Biedrins, JO, Maxiell, Thomas, and Darko. Really love the way this team shaped out. Missed out a few guys like Fernandez, andBrook Lopez, but it's alright, still like how this team turned out.

Can anyone rank my team and give any suggestions?
I'm thinking of picking up Azubuike or Stevenson or Bargnani.
Is it a good idea?

I don't know about "ranking your team,"

but I'll give my input on it.

Dump Antonio McDyess. He has hit his limit IMO. Maxiell is the stud in DET, and the back-up C, Sheed will slide over to C. Also, Amir Johnson will start tohave a bigger role on this team. Antonio can probably still play, but if you're going to pick up Buike, Stevenson, or Bargnani (and I personally suggestpicking up Stevenson), Antonio is the guy to drop on your team. If not him, Grant Hill, because Hill lost the starting job to Matt Barnes. I'm sure youknow you're going to be lacking assists, so I won't address that anymore. I think you'll have some troubles scoring in this league, I only see twopotentially 20+ guys on your team, Caron and Gerald Wallace. You're good on the intangibles, but don't really have any good shot-blockers outside of LAand Josh Smith. I don't know if that's enough to win you a category. Rebounding seems decent, but you better hope your big men stay strong, or elseyou'll fall fast. You seem to be decent in everything (except for assists), but not enough to solidify you winning a certain category week in and week out.

I have a question.

I have Calderon as my starting PG. MOTHER %##@*#* Gilbert Arenas as my backup...
smh.gif
...and no other PG. I need one now. Best available I see is Alston, Fisher, and Larry Hughes. Should I grab Larry or what? He just mysteriously went from being out 4-8 weeks to like...a couple. But, I won't have a PG to playoutside Jose.

This is the team that counts for me.... Its a 12 man league.
Overall im a bit disappointed with my draft but who knows. ignore Marbury

im gonna do something about that.
What do u guys think?

Yuku's trash, and this may not go through, but if it does, HAAHAHAH YUKU SCREW YOU, JAPANAIR21 > YUKU.

Anyways..

MisterP0315, dude, Alston is a VERY good pick for someone who's short on PG's. He may not supply as many points as he did in the past because you havea stud like Artest on the team now, but Alston should supply steals, lots of threes, some assists, and consistent shooting. Larry is a big no-no to ANY fantasysquad. Let me see the rest of your team, and see what you can do. Also, don't throw PG's like Nate Robinson, Stephon Marbury, or some other PG'sout there that seem to be question marks.. If Ramon Sessions is out there, be sure to grab him up. Supply a list of your players, and a fair amount ofavailable PG's. It's much better to search the FA list then to try and seek a trade. Also, don't sleep on Jamaal Tinsley, he's in a roughsituation right now, but the dude can put up assists to save your team if you need it. If his situation gets squared out, then he will be good for anotherteam.

Sactown, you really shouldn't have TOO much to be worried about, I mean you locked up any problems you'll ever have with blocks and rebounds with 3 ofyour picks (Amare, Dwight, Horford), then you have Wilcox/Haslem, to fairly good rebounders to boot. Scoring shouldn't be too bad, you have four guyscapable of getting 22ish points a game in SJAX, Amare, Dwight, and R-Jeff. You'll be sacrificing assists for sure, and three's are a little iffy, seeing as you don't have any consistent deep shooters other then SJAX and Hedo, but other then that I think you're set up good. Might want to see whoelse is on the FA list instead of Stephon since you won't be needing assists (unless you want to try and scratch and crawl to try and win assists everyweek, but it's better off just letting to go and trying to focus on another stat, like three's where you're okay but could be better). Some keynames to throw out there that could be out there: Tyrus Thomas, Rudy Fernandez, Brook Lopez, Nate Robinson, Rafer, Conley Jr., Travis Outlaw, etc. Your owninstinct will be right most of the time. Let me know if there's any specific additions/subtractions your thinking about, I'll be glad to help.

^ im debating on dropping Marbury and picking up Earl Watson or Stevenson (everybody you named were drafted).
Im not a big fan of Stevenson cuz i just dont see whats so great about him fantasy-wise. Watson i think will definitely help me in assists though.

Well, just looking at your team, I think it would be hard to get competitive in assists unless you have at least another PG who will rack up assists. Stevensonisn't great shooting % wise, but with Gilbert out, someone else has to put up points, and he's capable of shooting the deep ball, and doesn't looklike you have too many SG's either, how many are capable of playing SG? Two?
