Official 2008 CLEVELAND INDIANS Season Thread (41-53): Momentum headed into the break.

ive just been watchin highlights and readin the sports pages in the PD and news herald once in a while. whats been up w the indians lately? anyone with a quicksummary to catch me up. i said i was takin a break from cleveland sports after the cavs got knocked out. i think im ready to start watchin again...

The offense is finally starting to come around a little bit, starting pitching is still pretty sick (despite injuries), and the bullpen is just god awful rightnow.

Jake will be out for a long, long time.
Westbrook, placed on the disabled list earlier this week with right elbow inflammation, will undergo season-ending Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery, head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff announced Saturday.

The surgery will be performed by elbow specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles in the next seven to 14 days. In the Indians' most optimistic view, Westbrook would be ready to pitch in the big leagues again in another 10-14 months.

That's sick.

I only caught the bottom of the ninth. What did Josh do?

Gark will carry this offense if he has to, no word to Hafner.

Add Victor and Barfield to the list.
Martinez (right elbow inflammation) and Barfield (left middle finger sprain) are both headed to the 15-day disabled list, and the Indians have purchased the contracts of catcher Yamid Haad and infielder Jorge Velandia from Triple-A Buffalo.
It's worse than that, though; Victor is having surgery and will be out 6-8 weeks.
