I've been very critical of Arsenal for not having enough depth but there's nothing you can do when you're missing your 2 best defenders, 2 best midfielders and 2 best forwards.

Oh well...I didnt expect us to win anything at all this season but there are absolutely no excuses next season. Wenger's 5-year-plan has come and gone without desired results. It's time to switch things up.

QFT. Spurs have their own injury problems (Lennon,Woodgate, Corluka, Jenas, Kranjcar to mention a few) their best DM on 10 yellows. Danny Rose had his first Prem game so quit with all that.

Over the moon...COYS!!!

It was a really good game to watch, although we played like complete %*#. I really liked what RVP did today...he played very well for the 15 minutes or so he was on. Definitely created chances and his free-kick was nasty but it was a good save by Gomes. The league is pretty much over, unless Chelsea lose to Spurs and Pool and we can win every game from now on, I don't think there is a chance for us anymore. Diaby today was absolutely awful, like that doesn't even begin to describe it. Tottenham played Sunday and they were full of energy, we were off for more than a week and looked absolutely drained.

Changes must be made...Sol actually played very well today. We need to up our squad horribly...Silvestre and Campbell in the back today was absolutely horrid to watch

. I think if we at least had Song it would have been completely different.

And yes, Rose's goal was amazing.

3. The turning point was Vermaelen's injury. Silvestre makes Sol Campbell look like the greatest center back in the world.
4. There wasn't much Almunia was going to do with that first goal, can't fault him for the second either, that was on Silvestre/Sagna.
5. Good luck qualifying for Europe, you still have to play Chelsea, United and City.

#3  WHAT? you don't think Danny Rose's goal was the turning point?  RVP coming on was more of a turning point than Vermaelen's injury. C'mon now.

Every gooner fan has excuses. Of course the gooners were missing some key players. Sometimes, that happens. Look at how many games Torres has missed for liverpool. Whatever. Spurs could only beat the 11 guys in front of them yesterday... and that's what happened.

Like it or not, spurs are really the only team that can change the title race right now. They've already virtually eliminated the gooners.

Like it was hard to do with half of our starters out...full strength vs full strength wouldn't even be a contest. Song alone would have made it a completely different game. Spuds are going to end up in Europa, City will get the final CL spot, there's always next year Spuds.

Rose's goal was magnificent, but it was a miracle.  Arsenal still were controlling play and Silvestre directly contributed to the second.  After Van Persie came on, Spurs made Arsenal look like Barcelona.  Gomes made 3 or 4 great saves to keep them at bay, especially on RVP's free kick and chest and volley.

I would gladly lose Cesc in the summer if it meant we got the cash to upgrade and some magic potion that kept RVP healthy the whole season, I think he's that important to them.

I never want to lose Cesc, he's an Arsenal legend and he's only 22, I say we keep paying him and don't even listen to other offers unless they're over 60 million. He's a huge part of our team, what he does he's on is irreplaceable. But I do agree, I wish there was some magic potion that kept RVP healthy all season, he was out for 5+ months, and he gets on and creates chances like that, that free-kick he had was a beaut too. I missed his style of play...hopefully we can just win the remaining game, especially over City.

Obviously I dont want to lose Cesc either, and he is a legend. I think they will do everything in their power to keep him for a long time. I'm just saying that I think RVP is even more important to the team with what he does.

Like DC said you can only beat the 11 guys in front of you.

I could say had Lennon been playing Spurs would have won by more! (and showed that poor excuse of a winger TW how to play proper)

Fact is Spurs were the better side with both teams not at full strength.

Arsenal will be in the Champions League next year and will always be better than Spurs....THAT'S what REALLY matters.

Here we go... My last post on this matter:

Teams play for trpohies: In the last 5 years Arsenal have none Spurs have 1. You can say what you want about whatever tournament it was. Spurs are still putting silverware in the trophy case at the Lane while %+@+ are not. THAT'S what REALLY matters.

Back to topic at hand: Spurs 2 Scum 1...nuff said.

We saw in October what happens when we have our real team out there...nuff said. Have fun getting knocked out in the 1st rd of the Europe League next year vs Anderlecht.

nesto0, why you gotta be such a douche for?

Yes, you won yesterday, good game. There's little reason to brag about getting 3 pts against your rivals when it may ultimately prove to be a meaningless match.

Some Premiership fans crack me up...teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool etc are focused on winning domestic and other cup titles. Meanwhile, you have fans of teams like Spurs and Everton who have nothing else to look forward to but occasionally beating their heated rivals.

Despite their recent drought, Arsenal are a competitive team that are in the thick of things domestically and in Europe each season. What do Tottenham ever do besides waste money on mediocre players, finish 5-10 each season and do jack %!!% in the UEFA Cup when they occasionally make it? Tottenham will likely be a slightly above-average team for years to come that wont compete for anything other than Carling Cups. In fact, the year they won the Carling Cup, Arsenal fielded a bunch of TEENAGERS because the club was more focused on more important matches in the league and in the UCL. You won a competition that nobody cares about.

Actually, I wouldnt mind seeing Tottenham make the UCL next season and watch them struggle in the group stages. Too many fans under-estimate the quality of the UCL...the fact that a young team like Arsenal that has a modest payroll can make it to the UCL quarters every season is actually quite impressive. Over the last few years only Barca, Chelsea and Man Utd. have made the UCL QFs on a consistent basis...it's not bad company to be in.

Douche? Why is that?! I was stating facts bout 2 teams. Spurs won trophies in the last 5 years when Scum haven't.

Thats right Arsenal are competitive BUT THATS IT. They have nothing to show for all the games they play. A new stadium (thats why they are in debit to their knees, which is why theyre too cheap to buy and new players and sell all their decent ones)

Did you just say "trophies" as in plural? As in more than 1? As in Tottenham have won a competition other than the pathetic FA Cup in the last 5 years?

Damn son, you're delusional.

Arsenal have finished in the top 4 domestically over the last 5 years, made it to 1 UCL final, 2 UCL semis, made it to 4 UCL QFs over the last 5 years. That is far more impressive than simply winning the Carling Cup.

And why just compare both teams over such a limited time period of 5 years? Lets compare both teams' achievements over the last 6 years...or the last 10 years. Guess who comes out on top?

I'm sorry but Tottenham are nothing more than a slightly above average Premiership club...just like Everton, Aston Villa, etc. Some Spurs fans have an inferiority complex towards Arsenal...they could go an entire season winless but beating Arsenal would be enough to salvage the season for them
laugh.gif

No one in their right mind would think that Tottenham have been more successful in recent years (5 year span) or before that. I think yesterday was the first time in 11-years that Tottenham beat Arsenal in the Premiership. Congrats on winning your championship

You are correct, T=that is what matters. But if you think Spurs were the better team you are confused. For the rest of the first half after they scored I thought we were playing a relegation challenger.  Then when RVP came in he was a class above everyone on that field, except Gomes.

@ spurs v arsenal arguments ..in the end they are always pointless.
..but i dont get how you can't admit spurs were the better side. even your own manager admitted this for once.

some fans act as if defending isn't part of a performance. Gomes barely had to do anything until the last 15 minutes

                            Spurs          Arsenal
Shots(on goal):      15(5)            23(6)
Time of Possesion: 34%              67% (I realize this doesn't add up to 100. I got it from Soccernet.)
Saves:                    5                     3

I really don't know how you could have watched the game and think that Spurs outplayed Arsenal. Its like saying that Arsenal played just as good as Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League matchup.  The match ended 2-2, but one team played comprehensively better than the other but were kept out by several great saves from the other's goalkeeper. Oh, wait, do I need to explain what the Champions League is since Spurs have never participated?

You could make the same argument that Almunia had little to do for the last 40 minutes. Both Spurs goals were well played. One was pretty lucky, once in a career lucky.  The other one was well played and they took it to the weak point in Arsenal's defence.  Aside from that I don't remember a difficult save for Almunia to make.
