Isiah Thomas is not taking the consultant's job with the New York Knicks, sources close to the NBA told ESPN 1050 New York.

Thomas was in communication with commissioner David Stern's office and then rescinded his acceptance because of the conflict-of-interest by-laws of the NBA. Knicks owner and Madison Square Garden president Jim Dolan is expected to release a statement shortly.

"Although I'm disappointed that Isiah will not be working with the Knicksas a consultant, I continue to believe in his basketball knowledge,including his ability to judge talent. He's a good friend of mine andof the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He willalways have strong ties to me and the team. We wish him continuedsuccess at FIU. I also believe Donnie Walsh has done a terrific jobsince joining the Knicks and my tremendous respect for him has onlygrown since he's joined the organization. I'm confident that the workthat Donnie, Coach Mike D'Antoni and their staffs have done this summerhas the team poised for long-term success."


its not a media created story zik. they may exaggerate, but that line tells me thtat isiah will be back with the knicks in a high position one day.
