[h1]Giants activate Edgar Renteria from disabled list[/h1]SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—The San Francisco Giants have activated shortstop EdgarRenteria(notes) from the disabled list before Wednesday’s game against the BaltimoreOrioles.
Renteria has been out since May 25 because of a right groin strain. It washis second trip to the disabled list this season. The 34-year-old veteran i****ting .326 with one home run and 11 RBIs in 23 games.

To make room for Renteria, the Giants optioned infielder Matt Downs(notes) toTriple-A Fresno. Downs was hitting .244 with one homer and seven RBIs in 29games.
