I co-sign what LazyJ said and I think having our midseason acquisitions from last year for the entire year will benefit us. Jose Guillen gave us absolutely nothing. Plug in Ross in RF for the entire year and add Lopez and Ramirez to our pen. These are pluses in my opinion.

1. As a Giants fan I will say no, but this team did not downgrade so badly to the point where they are not the favorites in the NL West.

    -The Padres lost Adrian Gonzalez their only big RBI producer imo. They still have decent pitching but their offense is possibly the worst in the                division.

    -The Dodgers are probably the third best team in this division at best.

    -The Rockies are probably the best contenders to make a run at the division title.

    -And the D-Backs are the D-Backs.

3. Every team has ups and downs throughout a season so I don't expect them to play as well as they did in Sept-Nov the whole 2011 season but I           strongly believe that they can play up to their potential when the time calls for it. Also the way this team is constructed I expect that this will not be         the exact roster by seasons end, aside from the pitching and a few position players.

I'd also like to add that the Rockies' rotation to me is their question mark. They have Jimenez  and De La Rosa, but who else could you really count on?

MadBum surprised me a ton, but could very well hit a sophomore slump.

If Timmy or Cain somehow fall off in the least bit (or, god forbid, get injured... *gasp*), the team as a whole is in deep panic.

There is no way in hell Huff is matching last years numbers, there's no real way around that.

Ross will probably put up the same season, the pessimist in me wants to predict a fall-off, but he's been pretty consistently mediocre his whole career.

The Flying Burrel won't be doing as well, even if he won't be playing that much (DeRosa is bound to get hurt again, lets be serious).

Some things I am still fond of:

Buster is the man (you guys should get him out from behind the plate as soon as possible though, save his legs while you still can).

Pablo is looking nice an lean this year, I actually can't wait to see how he looks in Spring.


Plus if all else fails, you still got Zito.

Rockies offense is still solid.

Problem with the Giants was if we had a 2nd half of the season Zito start it was tough for us to win those games. Rockies are more situated to do so.

Which is why we should trade them Zito for a box of humidor baseballs.

Zito, his whole career has been a second half pitcher. It was only last season when he's had a horrendous second half.

If Zito can pitch like he did in April and May of last season, we're set on the staff.

I really dont understand why EVERYONE seems to be saying this.  Can someone explain why people everywhere seem to agree that he wont come close to duplicating his 2010 numbers (.290 BA, 26 HRs, 86 RBI)?  
People act as if Huff had a super career year in 2010, and put up some obscene numbers or something.  His last 3 year averages are .280 BA, 24 HR and 93 RBI.....and that includes his poor 2009 numbers which everyone just assumed were a reflection of him getting old and losing skill rather than just being a down year.  His last 3 year average is also right in line with his career average as well.  I think everyone is focusing too much on his down 2009 and not looking at his entire career (which is very underrated I might add).  Aubrey has been a beast since he started getting regular playing time and has always put up very good numbers.  In his 7 of his 11 seasons of seeing regular playing time, he hit 20+ homeruns.  If he hovers around his career averages in 2011, I am perfectly fine with that.  

I am not saying that there is ZERO chance that he regresses back to 2009 form, but I wouldnt count on it.  He may have slightly worse numbers in 2011 than he did last year.  But why is everyone making his 2010 out to be some astronomical season that he cant repeat is beyond me.  I think its a reflection of Aubrey playing for crap teams and people really not having the exposure to him.  People dont realize how good Aubrey has always been.

Building on what Dland said, the hope is he won't have to play everyday and our bench can give him some relief as to keep him fresh. Injuries withstanding of course. It wasn't like Huff did anything really outside of he ordinary, he was basically the foundation of our offense (

) for a stretch there before fatigue set in.
