Official 2017-2018 Knicks season thread

Trey is legit but in a 6th man scoring role moving forward. Hes putting up numbers right now and he can clearly get buckets with the best of them but he’s a specialist. He isn’t a good enough defender and facilitator to be counted on as a legit starting PG.

Frank is this team’s PG of the future. You gotta have faith in his development at this point. You can aquire another attacking/scoring guard in the draft or offseason to pair with him and Timmy in the backcourt, because the 1 and 2 have become more interchangeable guard positions these days than the traditional “PG”/“SG roles, and the 3 has really become the new “SG.” But I think Trigga Trey would be much better served off the bench.

He would be frustrating as a starter for a full season because his game isnt well rounded enough to be a full-time starter on a successful team. Frank at least has the potential to be a successful starting guard even if he’s not better than Trey right now. I’m a big fan of Trey though and I think it would be a huge mistake to let him go. I think he has the potential to be a really great scoring guard off the bench. Kind of reminds me of Nate who was my favorite player in those years. Him and Beasley should definitely both be brought back to be bucket guys off the bench.

^ you got had

Also Nets bringing the knickstank back. I kind of got over the tank and settled into that 9 spot after the Washington win with us being at no risk of falling to #10 and the Bulls deliberately tanking their *** off, but the Nets Win tonight over Miami puts them only 1.5 games ahead of us in the lotto standings. We realistically don't stand much of a chance to jump the Bulls or Sactown with them being 2 and 3 games ahead of us respectively in the win column and fully tanking, but since the Nets aren't taking and have now won 2 in a row and 4 of their last 7, it's not out of realm to see us passing them.

They still have to play the Bulls on a home and home, so we could count on at least one of those games being a W and maybe one other surprise W like they had vs. Miami tonight if we're lucky. But I can't see them finishing with any more than 28 wins (tops) and we already have 27 at the moment with 5 left to play. Losing 4 of those should basically be expected but with the Nets back in it, Tuesday's game vs Orlando should be considered must lose territory once again.

If we lose out the season we could reasonably expect the Nets to at least finish the season with the same record as us, if not better. If we win even one more game we would have to get lucky for the Nets to even finish with the same record as us.

That one spot over Cleveland could end up making a big difference, especially because if they lose Lebron they are prob going to want to swing for the fences with the BPA. I don't foresee them trying to fill that void with a super risky high ceiling project like JJJ or a safe unspectacular pick like Wendell Carter Jr.

Damn :lol

Expected KoQ to be gone but at least get something back. Not just waived.

How many players are gonna try Horny before the season is over? How does he even keep his job.

I remember dudes were quick to call Melo and Phil a toxic situation. Then what the **** is this? Radioactive?

Oh damn.

It was too long. I stopped reading at the Knicks had no plans of resigning him

That's a very believable prank.

You be thinking I’m that gullible huh?

With our loss yesterday we have a 99.6% chance of picking in the top 9.

Also, we're 1.5 GB of the Bulls & Nets, who play each other twice.

If you guys look at the schedule for some of the teams in front of us, we're actually in a very very good position to move up.

Knicks don't have any chance of moving ahead of any team besides Brooklyn.

We have 3 more wins than the Kings and they only have 6 games left. That would be banking on not only us losing our last 5 games but the Kings finishing the season winning 3 of 6. Even with Phoenix and Memphis left on the schedule, the probability of that happening is extremely minimal.

As far as the Bulls go, we have 2 more wins than them and we each have 5 games left. You can't expect them to get 2 wins in those 5 games with the Bulls shamelessly in tankmode, even if we do lose out the season. And any of their wins likely comes at the Nets' expense which is both unlikely and not beneficial for us.

Our best bet is just to hope we can move past BK because anything more is highly unlikely, considering that we already have 27 wins and this team has been playing with a decent amount of pride. I say it's more likely than not that we get at least one more win to finish the season which would virtually end our chances of jumping over anyone.

They still have 2 games left against Brooklyn
Bulls now have 26 wins and we have 27. Nets have 25 (playing Detroit right now at home) but are playing the best and not tanking. They even benched Russell yesterday to send a message and came out with a W over the Heat, who needed to win to clinch a playoff spot.

Only chance to catch both of them is for them to split, hope BK keeps up their pace and wins 1 or 2 more surprise games, and lose out the season. But we absolutely need to lose out for a chance to catch both. If we win even one more we would have to hope that either the Bulls/Nets win both games in the back to back so we could potentially tie one of them.

Even if there is a tie, we'll probably lose out on the tiebreaker anyway. Just look at last season
Yeah we'd probably be better off with one of those teams winning both games in the back to back so they can hopefully leap frog us and avoid a potential 3 way tiebreaker we would almost definitely come in 3rd in.

Tie breakers for the worst teams should work in reverse.

We win tiebreaker with other teams by losing more games to them not winning.
