Justin Wilcox lol
That's crazy. This forum used to hate Justin Wilcox, now he at a point where you're throwing a blank check at him?

 #4 D in S&P+ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Even if it's with someone else's foundation.

I doubt he replicates those results at UO or that this is even sustainable at UW once Andersen/Aranda's guys are out of there but he's not terrible IMO.  Leavitt would be a better hire, but I assume Uncle Phil will be making the call on this one.

Y'all used to hate Venables too, and now look at him

Didn't know Chip was close with Micky that's

what predictions do you have for this week @Bobby Layne?
Navy > ND

TAMU > MMST (not sure why people are calling this a trap game, MSST is trash)

TT > UT Mahomes lights them up

UF > Arky in a slug fest

SC > UO in a shootout

Bama > LSU comfortably

UK > UGA

OSU > Nebraska (game shouldn't be close but Meyer is still letting the O be Tim Beck'd so who knows)

Upset Pick: NW > UW

Michigan refused to play.

The Big 4 shouldn't participate, but I don't think it's that bad of an Idea for the rest of the conference to get some more exposure especially for programs like Illinois, Rutgers, Purdue, NW, and IU.

The hand-wringing about HS games is nonsense too.  Outside of Ohio, NJ, and PA, HS football is really not that big of a deal in this part of the country and we really don't have a FNF type of culture.  Cant speak for other states but in MI its normal for HS teams to play on Saturdays, even the big ones.  CT-MLK the best rivalry in the state currently was on a Saturday.

Big 4 being Michigan, OSU, Penn State and Wisky?
Nebraska, more money and prestige.

UNL has an incredible game-day atmosphere, and has a fan-base that travels. 0 reason they should ever play on Fridays, outside of that Black Friday game with Iowa.

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/ls...candidates-for-head-coach-outside-of-orgeron/

Ed Orgeron is all but guaranteed to be offered the vacant LSU head coaching position if he beats Alabama this Saturday night. A loss, however, would mean that the Tigers administration may look elsewhere for Les Miles’ long-term replacement.

Just in case LSU fails to knock off No. 1 Alabama — which would tack on to its current five-game losing streak versus the Crimson Tide — SB Nation senior writer Steven Godfrey reported Wednesday that athletic director Joe Alleva has a short list of four candidates outside of Orgeron.

According to the report, here’s who appears on the list as top targets for LSU “influencers”:

1. Jimbo Fisher, Florida State HC
2. Tom Herman, Houston HC
3. Jim Mora, UCLA HC
4. Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia HC

Godfrey also points out that though Mora and Holgorsen are included, neither are first choices, and if LSU was to swing and miss with both Fisher and Herman, it could still look elsewhere for a “a candidate who is young and offense-minded.”

FootballScoop.com confirmed Godfrey’s report and added to it:

Everything that we have heard at FootballScoop is that if Orgeron beats Alabama this weekend, the job is his. If he ultimately does not end up with the job, it is our belief, based on information from several sources, that there are other candidates beyond the aforementioned list that LSU is considering. We’ll update more following the Alabama game.

If LSU was forced to choose a new head coach today, it would be very happy with keeping Orgeron. But there’s just too much left to be determined before a final decision can be made.

Don't believe Mora or Holgorsen at all

Nebraskas AD has agreed to play 1 friday game every 3 years apparently

Supposedly tOSU as well :smh:

Dana's believable.

The HC candidates for this years carousel are underwhelming.  If they can't get Fisher, they should roll the dice with someone like Brohm.

One more thing on why I don't think without a meltdown the rest of the way (1-3, 0-4) Oregon will fire Helfrich: His buyout is $11.6 million right now. The state of Oregon is in a budgetary crisis. It'd would be awful politically for the state to argue there's no money then pay a public official 8 figures just to go away, then turn and raise even more money out of thin air to give to another one to take his place.  Especially when that official is an athletics coach.
LSU had no problem with firing Les and Cam and that state is damn near bankrupt...

LSU DID have an issue with firing Les.

Their budget issues are a large part of the reason they didn't pull the trigger on the spot last year. This year they just said **** it and public opinion was so impulsively skewed right after that Auburn game that the administration jumped on the opportunity.
When now-former LSU football coach Les Miles’ job was on the line last year, financial concerns over the hefty cost of buying out his contract were among the reasons that university President F. King Alexander ultimately nixed efforts to fire Miles.

Though no public university dollars go toward the coaches’ salaries or buying out their contracts, Alexander said at the time that perception would be a problem.

“After the type of budget battle we went through this past spring … we don’t need to go into the next legislative session with a black eye that we’re throwing tens of millions of dollars around on issues that aren’t associated with academic progress,” Alexander said in early December. “The public at large really doesn’t differentiate where the money comes from.”

It’s not as though LSU’s financial picture with respect to the state has changed dramatically since then. With the popular TOPS tuition program only 40% funded for the upcoming spring semester, the university still faces significant financial challenges.

Those concerns again factored into Sunday’s decision to terminate Miles’ contract, Alexander says. This time around, however, other concerns weighed more heavily in the overall equation.

“Money is always a factor for consideration and there were a number of financial considerations taken into account this time,” Alexander said this morning in a written statement. “But we have to do what’s best for LSU with our decisions, and at this time, a coaching change was what’s best for the program and our students.”
Now that people have had time to reflect on what happened, they're not happy with how money is thrown around, while public schools are getting shuttered in Louisiana, but it's too late and Les is out.

Nako, that certainly sounds better than "We reached out to several coaches behind the scenes, but none of them showed interest in the job so we're stuck with Les."

If Herman or Jimbo or whomever they wanted said yes to them last year, they would have canned Les. Blowback be damned

orgeron an A+ talent evaluator and recruiter, even if he flops he leaving the next coach a talented roster. Herman and Jimbo seem unrealistic.

also not for one second am i buying that "states nearly bankrupt we have to evaluate spending" michigan emptied the bag for harbough and detroit out here looking like a zombie apacolypse

Oh I'm aware of that too

But jumbo fisher and Tom Herman =/= Phil Fleck and Scott Frost.

If Godfrey said it, it's rooted in credible info at the least. Guy has great contacts

It's getting better though.  We even have places getting gentrified to hell by suburbanite post-college white hipsters like other major US cities now.

I don't know about UO but the Les thing was purely political and had to do with that recruiting class.  Michigan's AD is fully self-sustainable, if Jim wanted 8-10M like what was being rumored it wouldn't have been a problem for him to get it.  Despite LSU's issues on the academic side I'm sure a similar dynamic exist in their AD.

They could probably empty the bank for Jimbo and a A1 staff, they just have to be willing to accept the political consequences.

Miami results have been unflattering but they're playing hard so I guess there's some positivity

USC had a qb change that caused the 180? either way they're playing well right now
