Nothing Harbaugh says will keep kids away from the Buckeyes... They are doing everything right in recruiting... They are throwing 1 year starters into the first round with ease... Harbaugh has to worry about finishing a 4th quarter against them instead of Jeremy Ruckert or Kamryn Babb

I can tell you Darnay Holmes's sudden interest in SC this past year was in large part the effort by some to keep him away from tO$U.

Isnt Darnay's old man and Keyshawn Johnson real tight as well??? Key from USC and has a son at Nebraska, a fellow B1G school???

While it's nice to think the staff is above petty **** like negative recruiting, the reality is unless your reaching for the **** that happened at UF, there's no way to negatively recruit against OSU right now.

To be fair to the staff tho, they've taken a similar approach to kids their competing against PSU and MSU for.

Darnay's dad's best friend is the D backs coach at UCLA.

At some point, Darnay was trying to break away from going to UCLA (his mom and sister didn't want him there and under the influence of his dad and dad's friends) and so he not so silently committed to Ohio State. Then things started moving very quickly in a "well if not UCLA how about USC? USC is nice!" direction. The mom, sister, and several rumored others started pushing him to SC. He decommited from Ohio and then commited to SC.

Doesnt sound like coaching staffs had as much influence as a family with differing views and a kid that didnt want to disappoint anyone

Possibly. An older unrelated to modern day example would be Meat Market Orgeron pushing Joe McKnight to USC and away from LSU.

  What a clown

No wonder he can't recruit.

You think if he'd said "ain't nothing wrong with some shark yambz now and then" justin fields woulda been like "well damn, maybe I need to take a second look at the gators [emoji]129300[/emoji]"

The fact that he took a dumb twitter/messageboard meme as personally as he did is evidence that dude is a cornball.

Even a stodgy prick like Saban would have found a way to make light of it.

What'd he do now? Y'all need to do the right thing and hire that FAU coaching staff. I hear they're really on the rise.

Vols' Jones wades back into 'five-star hearts' waters
If Tennessee football coach Butch Jones loses the "five-star hearts" battle, he's going to go down swinging. He was back at it Tuesday night.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Butch Jones is still refusing to retire his “five-star hearts” phrase.

To suggest Jones is doubling down on it would be insufficient at this point. He’s now defended it on multiple occasions.

More than five months after first making headlines — locally and then nationally — for telling a crowd that Tennessee cared more about signing players with “five-star hearts” than five-star recruiting rankings, Jones on Tuesday went back to the well in front of another crowd.

Jones told a crowd of more than 1,000 people at Tennessee’s Big Orange Caravan stop in Upper East Tennessee that media has had a “field day” with his phrase, but that he meant it then and still means it now.

“Everything is about recruiting profile,” Jones told the crowd at The Barn at Sycamore Farms. “And, you know, I guess some people get entertained. Some of our local media has had a field day with ‘Five-Star hearts,’ but if you go around the country, about 90 percent of every college football coach has said it. What does that mean? In today’s world, we want people that love football more than they love recruiting. What happens now is recruiting starts in eighth grade, ninth grade, and they get caught up in the social media, they get caught up in everything but academics and football. We have a recruiting profile that starts with academics, it starts with character and it starts with competitive character, because being a college football player is a year-round sport now.

“So when we talk about the heart that goes into it, we want driven people that want to win championships, want to stay in school and want to graduate and go on and play in the National Football League, and we’re attracting those caliber student athletes right now.

“I don’t know if anybody knows this, but recruiting is going extremely well right now.”

Jones wasn’t overstating Tennessee’s recruiting efforts. The Vols are ranked No. 3 nationally in the 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings — and one of their commitments, offensive tackle Cade Mays from Knoxville Catholic High School, has a five-star ranking on the field.

Heard Bama told Matt Corral not to come on his visit, wonder what that is about? He got Manziel-isms?

He has discipline and anger red flags (nothing criminal) and makes emotional hot head decisions. He's also a not so silent commit to USC again, but they won't take his commitment because
A. Discipline red flags that a new coach like Helton can't risk,
B. they're throwing a Hail Mary for Justin fields or
C. going to wait on JT Daniels.

Kevin Sumlin asks for prayers for ex #Purdue coach Joe Tiller who "isn't doing too well" & publicly thanks JT for all he's done for him.
