Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Lol at thinking Melo is gonna all of a sudden have a career spike as a Knick again. We know the type of player he is. He's been here for 6+ years now.

He won't look this good unless he's in a rocket or Cav uniform.

Man you're delusional AF if you think Melo will all of a sudden be better this year. This hoodie Melo **** got some of y'all vision all fogged up.

He'd still be the #1 option here, he'd still be the main focus of opposing defenses. Yet he's older and all of a sudden a better player? He is who he is.

Dudes wetting themselves seeing Melo hit some floaters in a pick up game. LOL

Still not sure if y'all Knick fans or Melo fans. Seems like the latter.

Sasha is gone too! The Phil regime is almost over.

When the last time Melo had athletic players around him that can shoot and play defense? Or a good PG? 12-13?

Stay tuned Knicks fans and keep believing...

Melo putting up an inefficient 25ppg on 43% shooting won't make us a better team though. These individual stats literally mean nothing.

Vegas has us at 30.5 wins. Writing is on the wall that Melo won't be a Knick. Clearly they also think we're not gonna drop too far off without him as well.

Vegas doesn't make up those numbers based on "We think Melo won't be there"

That 30.5 wins is WITH Melo on the team. When/if he gets traded then they'll update it

He's had people to pass to at Denver, averaged 3 assists there. Pretty much averaged 3 assists per game as a Knick. "Olympic Melo" averaged 1.3 assists. When he goes to he Rockets he'll average 3 assists there too playing with 2 HOF'ers.

He's on the court to score. He was damn near forced to start passing the ball as a Knick.

Are we watching different players here?

For a scorer like Melo that's just completely false. He's averaged a career high 4.2 assists on a 32 win team. On a 54 win team he averaged 2.6 assists.

I see absolutely no correlation of his assist numbers and who is teammates are. Willing passer? Sure. But someone who sets his teammates up and hits the open man? Na.

Gonna have to agree to disagree here.

Hate and saltiness LMAO. Don't think I ever said anything negative about Melo. One good season and hoodie summer videos got y'all mind all clogged up. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, but this what y'all wanna see every game....

Can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Doxens love for Melo is reaching Amels love for Rose. Probably won't be here once Melo is traded. Gonna get himself some new Rocket red knee pads.

I mean in all honesty he's right. Melo has ALWAYS been a 3 APG guy. He can create but it's not in his nature to fish for passes to teammates to such a high extent. Wouldn't call it a slight. His career assist numbers in Denver are at 3.1, in NY its at 3.2.

According to SportsVU, Anthony has registered 6.5 assist opportunities per game in 2013, averaging just 2.8 assists overall. So that means in every game, there are up to 4 shots that if converted, would lead to a greater assist total for Anthony. The Knicks are converting 43% of Anthony's passes into shots. If we compare that number to the gold standard of Lebron James, the numbers are staggering. The Heat convert 57% of James' passes into baskets.

Melo does not set his teammates up though. Setting them up for wide open 3s or easy under the basket layups is different than just passing the ball. If we converted on an extra 4 shots a game we'd probably be a 50 win team with the amount of close games we lose.

Also, please stop comparing Melo to arguably the second best passing forward ever in Lebron.

Melo been in the league for damn near 15 years now. He's an elite isolation scorer. That is it. Stop making him out to be something he's not.
