KP is only a center cuz it's beneficial in the eastern conference and in general cuz the game itself does not have as many important big men like they use to.

He causes a ton of problems on the offensive end and is athletic enough to be somewhat of a run protector.

He doesn't have the body to bang with bogs in the paint at all.

To me he's more in the mood of Dirk where you don't really need to define what he is. Dirk played the 4 and 3 and later on sometimes the 5 throughout his career. It wouldn't be accurate to call Dirk a power forward or smal forward or center.

Same I assume will be the case for KP by the end of his career.

In terms of the salary to productivity ratio, oquinn has noah beat by a mile. I think we have him for a couple more years at like 5mil per? TG we're not paying lance in the double digits per.

Noah should be the first big off the bench. Hed be able to anchor the 2nd unit and won't be exposed as much against other teams second units

I don't think Noah would object if they ask him to come off the bench. But getting demoted to the bench Will mess with his confidence and make him play worse. He never really recovered from losing his starting spot all last yr.

If Noah's the biggest player issue then meh.

Its really a 2 year contract and the money is irrelevant.

I could see dude retiring a Knick.

What do you guys think if the Knicks picked up Rudy Gay since he's in the trade rumors? Do you think he'd make any positive impact for us?

God no. He's like a black hole, dude can score 15-20 but absolutely nothing else on the court. It's why the was the first to get axed from that Grizzlies squad when they were playoff contenders, it's why Toronto kept Lowry & it's presently one of the reasons why DeMarcus Cousins is wasting away in the slums of Sacramento while Affalo tells him tales from last season's Knicks.

Keep Rudy Gay far away from this team, b.

You should be a sportswriter for the inqstr because most of the stuff you say makes zero sense. Last time I checked Noah was signed to a 4 yr deal so I don't know how that's really a 2 year contract? And Money definitely is relevant when there is a salary cap. I don't know if you know this but you need to be under the salary cap to sign free agents, so money is definitely relevant.

I think he's assuming Noah is gonna retire which I don't. Doesn't he have a daughter now ? No way is he gonna leave 36 million in the table.

The Dirk defensive comparison with KP is totally off base as well considering Dirk has never been 7 foot 3 and gifted athletically. Prime Dirk was never considered a "rim protector" and he damn sure was never considered or played time at Small Forward outside of "let's see how this works scenario". They did that early in his career a few times and he was terrible. In 99 Nellie used him more as a point forward then after that it was strictly stretch 4 from that point on.

And you usually sound like a bitter jilted groupie of Melo's so maybe you should empty the sand from your panties. Ol crabby *****ing.

Given his age and productivity, it's really 2 years.

Salary cap don't matter to the Knicks. You new here?

Free agency? :lol I thought it was just said Melo doesn't bring big names here anyway. If just having the money was good enough we would've had a better bench now.

By the time he's 33 and with his injury history we shall see.

Reread what I said.

Thee Dirk comparison comes from the irrelvancy of trying to fit KP in to the box of being a center the same way it's not accurate to call Dirk a forward. Missing a few inches so he's not 7'3" is semantics. Its the versatility of the player. Dirk played the 3 plenty times back when the squad was Nash, Finley, and Dirk as the big 3 or am I imagining the much shorter 3s getting toasted by him on the elbow?

Same way y'all keep calling Melo a 4. Not cuz he's been a true power forward but cuz of his clear advantages at that position. The league has been lacking big men and those guys have expanded their skill set. **** is obvious.

When playing small ball LeBron can play the t in the east and has plenty times in the playoffs, does that make him a ******* center now too? 8o

Dirk is probably my favorite player ever I was absolutely in love with the Mavs when I was a kid and was the first team I loved @REDd SPYDER can definitely vouch for me :lol Nellie did a lot of revolutionary stuff back then which kind of shaped what the NBA is today but I can assure he did not play SF outside of a small experimental phase during his rookie season. They tried it some during his rookie season with him and AC Green trying to make them interchangeable depending on match ups but he was absolutely dreadful defensively. Always in foul trouble from trying to stick with quicker players off the dribble and too weak to defend classic back to the basket PF's. After that experiment was over in his first year they put the ball in his hands more from the perimeter in which he almost always had a smaller defender on him because he'll just blow by the traditional PF's and Centers. Now with the smaller defenders he either shot over them or just took them in the post and totally abused them. Definitely akin to KP today but with Dirk just having the far superior post game and passing ability. Dirk will forever be one of the greatest Power Forwards. He played some center sparingly but he's the quintessential PF your gonna be seeing for the next 30 years in the NBA. KP has the potential to do what Dirk did offensively but also be a force in the paint on the defensive end protecting the paint and rebounding

Your proving my point. I don't believe KP nor Melo are "small ball" 4's and 5's. They are 4's and 5's period and perform better at those positions offensively and defensively. LeBron is probably the second greatest basketball player ever who is an athletic freak of nature still after 13 years in the NBA. Son can legit play 4 positions extremely well. Him matching up against Draymond in the finals and playing some minutes at the 5 has nothing to do with the KP and Melo Knicks giving Joakim 4 years 72 mill situation. Idk how you can say Melo isn't a true PF when he had his best season ever offensively and defensively in 2012 playing the position full time.

Slight chance we get a Plumlee face off :hat

Pookie should just keep his feet in Epsom salts for the rest of the year. Every time he doesn't suit up he's the player of the game
