Butler wants a trade to a team that plans to sign him to a five-year, maximum contract that could be worth $190 million in the summer, and his list could expand based upon the Timberwolves and rival teams' willingness to negotiate a trade for him, league sources said.
For now, however, Timberwolves president and coach Tom Thibodeau has no interest in trading Butler and wants to try and return to the playoffs with him in the lineup, league sources said.

You realize that he can play basketball at a high level and film a movie in the offseason/off-time right? He's not going to be bricking shots because he's thinking about scripts. Lebron has always had alot going on in his off-time and played at any MVP level.

This is where the coach/GM thing is so dumb to have. Coach Thibs is right in not wanting to get rid of him. He’s a perennial all-star and losing him instantly makes your team worse. GM Thibs has to think long term though and keep the young guys happy.

Why do you keep bringing up Solomon Hill as the focal point of the trade? The draft picks involved would be. Solomon Hill is salary matching that comes off the books next summer.
Nobody is even saying that Minnesota would make that trade in the first place.
