not too excited about this trade, he’s only reached 150 innings 1 time in his career and it was 160 innings this year and his next highest was 136. He’s been on the DL quite a few times also. Just hope he’s not another Sonny Gray.

I really like this move. Yes it sucks to give up Sheffield, but he isn’t ready and our time is now. Paxton is cost-controlled and has nasty stuff. Yes the DL trips are worrisome, but nothing I’ve seen says it’s anything persistent. Back inflammation, pec strain, forearm strain, forearm bruise from being struck by hit ball, etc.

Next priority is Corbin. Adding two lefties of this caliber would be awesome. These guys are both power arms, top 4 in respective leagues in K/9 and K/BB.

Then we look at Harper/Machado. Personally, I think we should sign Harper. He can learn 1B or spilt time in the OF. Love that he’s a power lefty, and too many questions about Machado’s personality. Wouldn’t be mad with either really, but I want Didi at SS when he returns. If Manny will play 3B again, cool. If he will only play short, push in on Harper.

After that, maybe resign Happ, and definitely dump Gray (and probably Bird - he had ample opportunity to put it together but either got injured or struggled every time).


Great first step by Cash. Let’s see what his next is gonna be....
