Yankees on Cano

He wouldn’t slot in at second base for the Yankees and the only real possibility would be to make him a first baseman and designated hitter. Cano hit .303 with 10 home runs in 348 plate appearances last year.

The Yankees do not want to commit to one player in their DH spot, according to the report.

That plus Mariners not wanting to include significant cash.

Sanchez > Realmuto

But I guess you really can’t have too much talent. Just move Stanton to LF. Gary DH.

Trade Romine for a mid level prospect

that guy is older and i dont think hes better than sanchez... there numbers are really close... its easy to think negatively of sanchez since his batting average was trash...i wouldnt do that trade... just focus on corbin and if you get either manny or bryce wow not a bad offseason

Word on the street is we have a handshake agreement with Corbin and a deal should be announced next week.

My rest of the offseason moves

Corbin
Looks like Phillies are pushing hard on Corbin as well.

What I would prefer to offer him, is 5/$100mil. Or 6/$115mil

But it will probably take 5/$115mil or 6/$130mil

Contracts are done by Avg Annual Value. But I would significantly front load Corbin. To get a significant amount of money our of the way, and we can better move Corbin in a few years just in case he was a contract year fluke

David Robertson
Cannot let him go to Boston. If we don’t offer him a deal, he’s going to go there. No doubt in my mind.

3 year/$27mil

Andrew Miller
Yes. He’s had injuries. Yes he’s older. But he’s a significantly less expensive option than Britton who is going to require closer money + years to be the 4th best, maybe 5th best guy in our bullpen.

He loved playing in New York. He was extremely selfless and was a good clubhouse presence.

Because of the injury. 3year/$21mil and a possible 4th year vesting option assuming he stays healthy.

Adeiny Hechavarria
He doesn’t do much with the bat, but his defense is superb. And he’s only a guy we have here for 80-100 games waiting for Didi to come back

1/$3mil

Neil Walker
He can play 1B/2B/3B/RF and LF if need be. He’s here to help fill Didi’s void.

1year/$6mil

Sonny Gray trade
He’s probably a weak 2, really good 3 (maybe even better) in any division other than AL East.

If we could get a veteran starter who has maybe 1 solid year left to be the 6th starter on the team, and a quality OF prospect, I’m sold.

Or even a guy who is in Gray’s same spot needing a new change of scenery + an OF prospect.

And finally. I’m fine if we do. I’m fine if we don’t.... But because it’s the Yankees.
Bryce Harper
A 10 year investment isn’t a bad idea for Bryce. Nor would it be for Machado. Because they are 26. If they were 29 or older, then there would be a conversation to be had about whether or not it’d be worth it.

Harper to me is the better fit, lefty bat that we need whether Didi was healthy or not. Can play LF. Or could learn 1B over the next few years.

I know we have a hole at SS now and Machado can move to 3B where his defense is significantly better than Andujar’s but I think long term Bryce
is the better fit.

Also think about this. Stanton has an opt out coming up. That gives us leverage on Stanton. After 2020 he has an opt out with 7 years $218 mil left. If he opts out with Harper and Judge we can tell him to hit the bricks.

10 year $350mil for Harper. If there’s an opt out for Harper, it’d have to be after 5 years. If he opts out, you offer him the same 5 year $175mil he’d make with maybe 1 extra season on his deal. I don’t see a team offering more than 12 years, and if they did, they probably don’t go over $30mil AAV.

Sanchez/Romine
Voit
Torres/Walker
Andujar
Hechavarria
Harper/Gardner
Hicks
Judge
Stanton

Frazier and Bird are the two guys that we try to get ready throughout the year

Severino
Tanaka (maybe the 3, but come playoff time he’s the 2)
Paxton
Corbin
CC
(Gray Trade)

Bullpen:
Loaisiga / German and whoever else throughout the year
Holder
Green
Miller
Robertson
Betances
Chapman

Nats out of nowhere. Thought the Yankees were a lock. He probably couldn't pass on that $.

I think we re-sign Happ now

Look to trade for Kluber, Bauer or Carrasco.

and now that we’re not spending top dollar on a pitching Free Agent. All the more to give to Harper or Machado.
