OFFICIAL 2019 COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFFSEASON THREAD

nako xl nako xl one of the mods on UT’s rivals site said they’re getting tired of waiting on Lindberg and may be getting ready to move on.

They probably lost Vernon Broughton to A&M this weekend and there’s talk Lathan Ransom, who they’ve convinced themselves they lead for, is trending away from them too.

Their 247 site is in full out meltdown mode.

I saw earlier on their board that Ransom was almost definitely gone. Bijan has a lot of Chris Steele in him and is probably telling coaching staff’s what they want to hear, but it’s funny to me that their mods are trying to lead their subscribers to believe that he committed on the trip. I guess they gotta print something in late June.

N41D N41D Mike Roach just doubled down and said that Ransom hasn’t given tO$U a silent commitment yet and that SC is out of it for Robinson and it’s a two-horse race between Texas and Ohio with UT feeling confident they lead. “Sources tell me Bijan feels Austin is the perfect blend of Los Angeles and Columbus.” What?

They basically just tell their board members they lead for everyone huh?

Tracy Pierson on UCLA’s recruiting troubles (pardon his redundancy)

“Some on this forum say it's all something that winning will alleviate.

Others attribute it to a lack of recruiting salesmanship from the coaching staff.

From what I can see, and my experience, it's a combination of both.

If UCLA has a good result on the field, winning over recruits won't be such an issue. It will for the most part make up for the lack of recruiting salesmanship.

But we'd be remiss not to recognize that lack of salesmanship. There are programs that haven't shown much beyond what UCLA under Kelly has on the field and are clearly doing a better job of the salesmanship part of recruiting. Nebraska was 4-8 last season, and finished with the No. 18 recruiting class in the country for 2019.

To be candid, I don't think a Chip Kelly program will ever be exceptional on recruiting salesmanship. I think what you should hope for is that UCLA, on the field, continues to show improvement and that, combined with some of UCLA's natural advantages, a good coaching staff and some of the new advantages in terms of resources, that's enough for UCLA to recruit at a level of talent that enables it to win at a high level.

Hopefully in a few years UCLA fans will be able to conclude that UCLA is winning at a high level with a recruiting approach that doesn't have to put on a show, prioritizes character and doesn't pander to divas.”

I disagree with one thing: Chip’s issue isn’t that they don’t wow or glitz and glamour recruits, it’s that they identify them, offer them, then seemingly never talk to them again. The prize of their class last year, Sean Rhyan, said he chose them because other schools were calling every day and UCLA was more laidback and didn’t pressure him to commit which was more his style. The only real recruiting battle they won was the one for the kid that didn’t like being recruited

From rivals OSU recruiting “analyst”:

I put in a prediction this morning for Rivals100 running back Bijan Robinson to Ohio State. As I have said on the board a couple of times recently, I really felt that Ohio State turned this thing on its head last week with a great official visit. Bijan is extremely close with his mom and grandparents and they were all on the visit. I believe there was some concern about distance from home there going into the visit but I think the visit went so well that everyone in the group would be good with Ohio State if that's what Bijan wants to do, regardless of it being further away than the other schools he is looking at.

But I was also very leery about the upcoming Texas visit which took place this weekend and that there was a chance with those back-to-back visits to USC and Texas that the Buckeyes could lose the momentum they had gathered last week. I do not believe that has happened, and with no more visits coming up in the near future, it's not a Kendall Milton situation where three more teams will get a chance here. The hay is basically in the barn at this point and I believe Ohio State is in the driver's seat.

The key here is a quickish decision. If this goes down in July, I feel pretty confident that it's going to be Ohio State. I think Texas would want to drag this out into the fall and at that point there would be some data on which direction the Longhorns are trending on the field and how the Ryan Day era is going. Now that could come into play even if he commits somewhere this summer, but it's a lot easier to tilt the scales in like October if he's uncommitted than it would be if he had been committed somewhere for three months.

I suspect he's going to decide this summer, and again, believe it will be Ohio State if he goes through with a July decision.

Nah, they'll have Akers bouncing after this year + Laborn is coming back from a knee injury. FSU is the perfect chance to get on the field early and I don't think he actually leaves Florida.

Miami has a 5 star back coming in his class + 2BC guys that will be sophomores this year. Can't really knock him for that.

 He's depth chart watching it sounds like, so I can't see how y'all don't win that one.

Just support the young man chasing his dreams and making the best and most educated decision for himself and his family.

 That Bleacher Report hit piece on Jimbo... :smh:

I wanna know who the ex coaches were. I figure that one was Rick Trickett but I can't figure out the other 1 (or 2)

I bet Bill got a big bag from ESPN :pimp:

At least I hope so, dude has earned it

(Selfishly I hope his stuff isn't behind the ESPN+ paywall but I'm afraid the good stuff will be)

I figured he was going to ESPN. Didn't sound like he was leaving for an opportunity with a team, so I figured that the worldwide leader came with a bag that he couldn't refuse.

It's going to be hilarious when they bring him on the CFBP rankings show to explain his numbers

Him and Stanford Steve could make for a decent pairing on a pod.

bro he is a walk on from the track team, big deal

UCLA just has to win and everything will be fine

usc has enough mess going on and you posting about BS UCLA to the ACC LOL

How does the team look so far going into fall? Serious question. I can't find an objective assessment on UCLA anywhere. Are your practices closed?

Bryce Young is so good. I completely underestimated him because of size.

Thats all

Told you.

I know the NCAA is trying to make the state of California back down but what if they just let the bill pass? players who choose to play at California schools can't compete for national championships, but they get the opportunity to profit from their likeness. It would just be a choice the players have to make.
