What exactly is an “old school mentality”? Them ***** woulda jumped to play with each other back then too...if they could. And the best teams and teams that won all had crazy talent.
....

I’m pretty sure the 1987-88 Lakers had 4
number 1 overall picks on the team. Kareem, Magic, Worthy and Mychal Thompson. And Byron Scott was like 3 or something. 80s Celtics had a bunch of all-stars. Early 80s Sixers too.

They were superteams, they just came together in different ways than it typically works now.

They could've easily teamed up back then. They didnt though. Teams were built on consistency in the 80-90s. They stuck together for multiple years tryna contend. Now everyone is just teaming up and moving every 2 years. Zero consistency and patience today. Everyone wants results immediately.

Stars back then all stated in multiple interviews that yes they'd love to play with so and so, but they would rather beat them. Idk if they're saying it just to sound competitive or go against the grain of today's NBA.

With that said, all championship teams had talent. You need talent to win. But guys didnt have lists of teams they wanted to be traded to as much as today. Dudes werent teaming up with players that were beating them every year. Veterans werent chasing rings. If they did, everyone would be a Bull or Jazz or Piston or Rocket at one point.

I don’t think Luka is going to get the backlash others get because he’s white and a lot of people never got behind him in the first place. It’ll be more so “see that’s why I don’t trust Europeans”

Yeah I said it.
You right. Dudes came out the gate hating on him. When him and KP can't win a title it will be a whole lot of "I told you sos".

I'm thinking of Dirk after 06.

After the finals L and getting tossed in the 1st by the We Believe Warriors a year later...slander was at an all time high for him. He had to take the Heatles down to get his shine back.

Bron went “overseas” to get another mid season HGH treatment. Son gonna ball during the rest of the season watch.

Big zeke traded Adrian dantley for his homeboy.

Plus back then dudes were signing bum deals. You didn’t have freedom. Magic signed a 25 year deal. It’s not the same thing

I agree with this. I think the slander would have been louder if he played in the social media era. But I hear you

The key thing that people leave out of the equation when comparing eras is the money. The money is so big now that giving up $50million over the course of a deal can leave you with a 200 mill deal versus a 250. If dudes were getting paid like that back then, it would've been an entirely different story.

Def more freedom today. Which is a good thing in many ways.

Problem is everyone today wants teams to draft 75% of their stars, add role players in FA, and win a ring. Thats the ideal formula. But that involves alot of patience and alot of luck. So players are just teaming up to get a ring on their resume as fast possible. They dont want to be journeymen in their mid 30s.

DWhistle chip really fueled every notion of the soft Euro guy even for a player who is a Top 50 player of all-time. Crazy to see how that would've played out in the social media era.

:lol you can’t even compare it. Magic Johnson had a 25 year contract. It was silly **** like that back then :lol. Larry Bird is the reason “Bird rights” is even a thing. He was set to hit free agency in 83. They money, the structure, player movement and free agency was different in the 80s and 90s.

The fanatics want organic championships. Through the draft done the "right way". Which is ideal.

The casual fans love the super teams. Mostly through free agency and stars teaming up.

I dont like how fans or owners blame the players. Lots of these teams draft these stars, yet fail to keep them together or add talent to the team overall. Thats on the GMs and front office. I said before, the NBA has the best recycling program worldwide. These GMs dont learn and are too stubborn to follow a winning formula.

I dont like the constant player movement, but when front offices suck and its been 5-10 years., yea you cant blame players for doing what they do.

Wardell’s biggest Finals moment is his behind the back pass into the crowd at the end of the game.

**** Luka

Hilarious reading Beal's comments. He's a fellow Gator but alas

Beal not a good salesman for Washington if he's tryna get people to buy into the team and city. He was looking musty all weekend.

All the teams are doing what they can to build the best team possible. It has never stopped and it's why were here watching the NBA today and excited to watch tomorrow. In the grand scheme of things, basketball ain't ****. I got no ill will towards anyone who ain't trying to hurt my family. **** them. I cant hate bron as a person because I dont know dude. I dont love curry cause I dont know dude. I'm a warriors fan first, who enjoys the players we have on the team to watch. Warriors got lucky to even be in the situation they're in, but hard work from those dudes is what it took to put them over the top. Cant take anything away from that. To do so would be the true meaning of intellectual dishonesty. Same for lebron. Same for any other person working to make themselves better on their own.
