Valid, but I don't think it matters too much in the grand scheme of things. Lou Williams was at 7 ast per 36 last year and was really good as a playmaker. Big reason why the Lou / Trez PnR was so great. He was making great reads and passes all year.

The Clips have been a top 10 offense in both years post lob city. Even last year with no Blake Griffin, CP3, in sight they still spit out a top 8 offense, one of the best offenses in the half court, and were the best clutch team in the league last season per net rating.

I think adding PG and Kawhi to that will do wonder. Doc Rivers really is awesome when it comes to offense.
In the playoffs ball movement becomes less vital. Having two elite iso scorers who are also elite mid range off the bounce>ball movement

Oden was hooping in Portland during the rare times he wasn't injured or in foul trouble. His body betrayed him but the talent was there. When I think of the word bust I think of a complete misjudgment of talent like Olowokandi.

Olo has the qualifications, you have Vince, Paul and Dirk in the same draft (to be fair, no one knew about the german until he toasted everyone here in San Antonio)

I just think his age and mid major conference played a factor as to why he was dominant, scouts were fooled.

Utah is one of the best ball movement teams in the league but in the playoffs their lack of iso creating and scoring bites them in the *** every year

Don’t mean squat if you don’t a guy(s) who can take advantage of one on one or need to beat double teams off the dribble

AD is kind of the poster child for it, but there’s just a trend these days to prematurely say certain guys are up next/Top 5. Think is has to do with LeBron fatigue and people wanting to be early in recognizing great players. It’s happened with Giannis a bit to, but Giannis has arguably delivered more than AD has.

On the other hand, let's not forget the tear he went on during the second half of the 2018 season into the playoffs.

It’s also more difficult I’d say for big men to take things by the horn. Guys like George harden even Giannis can take charge more so because they can initiate

Judging ball movement by raw assist numbers in 2019

We need to do better

Who says I was judging it? You can't judge something that hasn't taken place yet.

The Warriors' ball movement is always praised by their assist numbers. Everyone always goes nuts about how whatever amount of their field goals were assisted on.

Yep. That was my larger point (aside from pointing out that the Clips offense has been really good whether you have Jawun Evans, SGA, Pat, Shamet, they've still been a top 10 offense, PG and Kawhi aren't hurting that)

But to your point, that's why I'm cautiously so optimistic with LAC. Big wings who can just get theirs regardless of defense (AND can defend on the other end) are like the +200 Million dollar players in the league. There's only a few (Lebron, Kawhi, PG if he plays how he did most of last season, KD) and for the Clippers to have TWO of them seems like a luxury that can take them deep into the offs.

Well, that was your only evidence in reference to the topic

Westbrook Iverson etc have routinely had high assist numbers

Also when you have an egalitarian style offense assist numbers might not even reflect that

In this iteration of LAC I don’t expect that but ball movement won’t matter as much anyway

No doubt. To be clear, I’m not saying AD isn’t a great, great player. He is. I just don’t think he’s done enough to warrant how highly some people rank him on the list of best NBA players.
