Players can't tamper, 1. 2. KD was a free agent that summer. He didn't force his way out or hold a team hostage. It wasn't bad for the league. In terms of a negative view, a black eye. Guys talk about what it would be like to team up every single all star weekend. EVERY SINGLE ONE. ALL OF THEM. WITHOUT FAIL. That is nothing new or special.

AD is a new wrinkle in this system though. A player that wants out so bad, they just deactivate themselves. And even with the team trying and putting forth the effort in making the team better, still, like nah. Then they got 1st pick. Got Zion, and he still bounced, to go where he wanted to go.

Not saying it's a bad thing. It's just what happened. Players should do what they want, but it should be reasonable. And don't say it's for one thing, when it's clearly for other reasons.

AD was there 7 years dawg. Let's not play dumb to the Pelicans being a mess. He wanted out to better himself. Same way Dallas traded Harrison Barnes, same way the Raps looked Demar in his face and said we're not trading you, then traded him. If it's all business, not personal then keep it that way. Y'all just doing a bunch of "well that was different" sounded like Red.

What black eye (pun intended). The people still crying are just upset he went to the Lakers.

They won 50 games...a playoff series and took a game from GSW...before essentially losing to the champs the season before. Got off to a great start last season...then got hit with injuries, a mean losing streak and the season crumbled.

I’m not saying the Front Office is blameless or not an entity that historically are cut throat....but Steve has a point and his words have been taken out of context....to make it seem like sour grapes because he “doesn’t have 5 all stars” and “finally has to coach”.

Lol at taken our of context. Just sounds like sour grapes to me. Organizations do this **** all the time. He probably just mad that light years Lacob wasn't able to take advantage of a disgruntled star situation this time.

You know what was really 'bad for the league'? Adding KD to a 73 win team and nuking any thought of competitive balance in the league on paper.

Kerr need to shut the hell up and coach now that the division is going to be the best in basketball. Going to see what he's really made of with a level playing field.

Dray was recruiting KD all that season while he was "under contract" with OKC. Does Steve Kerr think that was bad the leauge?
But KD had a right to become a FA at the end of the year and he chose to leave. You're comparing apples and oranges.

Ehh my brother is 32 and he had the Darius Miles jersey. Those clipper teams were headband legends. They had the whole hoods bangin on their heads after scoring.

They had a mini movement going. I don’t see why it’s farfetched saying they had fans
Clippers were my favorite team growing up for sure. Those young dudes at the time were iconic without even making the playoffs.

It's not taking outta context. You can hear the whole statement.

Teams have tanked seasons to have a better future if you wanna go there. No matter how you cut it, these owner are flat out upset they players have the power.

When I say “taken out of context”...I’m speaking entirely to the context that Perk/Talking heads are putting it, into.

And that’s the “bad for the league” and comparing it to competitive balance ****.

Kerr literally said, “Fully healthy players with years left on their contracts” DURING the season. That COULD be bad if taken to the extreme.

Why y'all keep saying AD shut himself down. We were debating for a week if the Pels had the right to shut down a healthy superstar because he wanted to play. New Orleans was the one trying to protect their asset as well as punish him by playing him only 20 minutes a game after the whole trade debacle.

Narratives.

That's fine in the East, but that's not cutting it in the West.

Granted...AD is now playing with LeBron (the year 17, 35 year old version)...

But he also played with a healthy Boogie, Motivated Rondo, Mirotic, Jrue.

Two of those guys are with AD again on the Lakers. Let’s see if that’s “enough in the west” now. Cuz it could go downhill...and I’ll be here to tell you how this Lakers 19-20 team with AD could play out like a 6/7 seed AD Pels team....

Seriously :lol. But even if that was the case, a bunch of people were saying it's perfectly fine for a team to shutdown a player. It's bad for the league if the player shuts himself down tho

Can I get this in writing? 8o

He wasn't a FA while him and Dray talking about him going to GS during that regular season. By Kerr's logic KD "owed" OKC to wait till he officially became a FA.

athletes talking about linking up during FA =/= demanding a trade midseason while still under contract for 1.5 seasons

KD didn't stop competing for OKC just because he knew he wanted to go to the warriors the following season.

What's the difference between what AD did as a player and what the Clippers did to Blake?

i'd say there are alot of worse things for the league than that singular issue

but pelicans were purposely sitting dude because they were tanking and didnt want dude to risk getting hurt to hurt his value

hell, i a bigger issue to me that wont get discussed, is silver making the 76ers fire hinkie AND hire colangelo who then hired his kid

i say that because you got teams like the lakers and knicks who were/are being incompetently run and werent/arent told shh.. meanwhile the 6ers take advantage of something and are straight forward about it and the league steps in and ends up screwing them in the process
