You’re leaving out that that was their best season in AD’s 6 years there to that point.

6 years of building and all we have to show for it is one season with 50 Ws & a 2nd round appearance? Our 2 best young players outside of our Star is Jrue Holiday & Nikola Mirotic? Are we getting any elite free agents over those large market teams? Probably not so who are my trade chips? Jrue, Nikola, and some late firsts?

AD looked at that situation and wanted out, no different from these teams who sign guys, get buyers remorse and ship them out with several years left.

Kerr is completely off-base.

Isn’t that when teams normally ascend with their star Lotto picks tho? In the West...it takes about 5 years to reach that playoff maturity after years of tanking. And that was the 2nd time AD was in the playoffs. They were on a decent schedule. I don’t think NO “failed” AD for what they had. The Solomon Hill contract was a killer...and they couldn’t upgrade the 3 position...but he had some decent pieces around him.

We just saw Giannis with a similar roster construction (Mirotic, Middleton) etc lead a team to 60 wins and his first playoff series wins (in year 6). Say they somehow regress next year...and Giannis wants out in 2021.

Kerr wasn’t off base.

It's not taking outta context. You can hear the whole statement.

Teams have tanked seasons to have a better future if you wanna go there. No matter how you cut it, these owner are flat out upset they players have the power.

Dray was recruiting KD all that season while he was "under contract" with OKC. Does Steve Kerr think that was bad the leauge?

Players can't tamper, 1. 2. KD was a free agent that summer. He didn't force his way out or hold a team hostage. It wasn't bad for the league. In terms of a negative view, a black eye. Guys talk about what it would be like to team up every single all star weekend. EVERY SINGLE ONE. ALL OF THEM. WITHOUT FAIL. That is nothing new or special.

AD is a new wrinkle in this system though. A player that wants out so bad, they just deactivate themselves. And even with the team trying and putting forth the effort in making the team better, still, like nah. Then they got 1st pick. Got Zion, and he still bounced, to go where he wanted to go.

Not saying it's a bad thing. It's just what happened. Players should do what they want, but it should be reasonable. And don't say it's for one thing, when it's clearly for other reasons.

So you just gonna ignore Jrue & Mirotic being the best young pieces & them not having any other trade chips or being a desireable free agency destination huh  Team had a low ceiling anyway you look at it.

8th seeded team in the West won 48 games and you’re talking about Giannis winning 60 in a different conference  come on man. That pels team had a low ceiling, my guy wanted out. Teams swap non-expiring contracts every year.

Even Kerr’s comparisons were ridiculous. Bron been playing in the finals for most of the decade, KD been in the conference finals or Finals every year his team’s been healthy. Their situations are COMPLETELY different from AD & Paul george

Ehh my brother is 32 and he had the Darius Miles jersey. Those clipper teams were headband legends. They had the whole hoods bangin on their heads after scoring.

They had a mini movement going. I don’t see why it’s farfetched saying they had fans
This.

Also anytime someone says they're a big fan of lesser known team people will look at you like you have 3 heads

That's fine in the East, but that's not cutting it in the West.

I’m from NYC and in HS everybody loved those guys. They were entertaining as hell

I grew up in the 80's loving the Lakers and then turned my fandom card in right around the time Pat Riley left in 1990 (?). I always had love for the Clippers because of my older cousin, who I idolized.

I legit started disliking the Lakers the year Shaq came. Lakers fans became unbearable.

Kinda related, but a couple Russian NHL players recently spoke out against Putin. Going to be interesting to see if there is backlash against them like the Turkish gov't has towards Kanter.

putin out chere killing ppl.. they would be best to follow kanter's lead and just not go back home

but who knows with trump, look what he let slide with the saudis and he owes more (and is probably more scared of) to putin than MBS

AD went from a perennial 48 win team to join a team that might struggle to get to 45. Yikes

I can believe Kawhi saying the Lakers weren't his favorite team. He did say Iverson was his mans but aint no way you grow up idolizing Kobe and not be a Lakers fan. Aint buying it.

PG was hurt his favorite team didn't feel they had to give up everybody for him and it was a wrap.

idk man. There's dudes that absolutely loved the lakers, but then also hater kobe. @darthska was one. It's not mutually exclusive.

I remember liking both Kobe and AI growing up. And then when they met in the finals I had to choose between the two. I picked AI and never looked back.

it's possible to like a player and not be a fan of the team. growing up, i loved watching sprewell in golden state but i never really cared at the end of the day if they win or lose.

i can believe kawhi that he's no lakers fan. paul george though is full of ****. he had an opportunity to sign with the clippers in FA and shunned them away.

Kawhi be all over the place man, he idolized Iverson and Carmelo for a period as well. Im assuming thats while he wore 15 in college.

Ended up down a rabbit whole of classic games, came across this game...

LeBron’s change in physique is CRAZY.

He has ALWAYS murdered Toronto. Lol.

About the 8:20 mark of the 4th was VERY eye opening for me. LeBron is feeling it and lines up backwards, then proceeds to attack a double team with a guy wide open on the wing.

Ska definitely not only person like that. I know others. Some, like him, begrudgingly continued to root for LAL despite someone they didn’t like him being the face of the franchise. Others switched teams (not necessarily to the Clippers though).
