I remember during the 2010-2011 season there was so much hype on that melo trade… I feel like that was the beginning of all this trade drama or demands lol… but once he got traded to the knicks there was no hate because he got traded to the knicks…. All the media and everyone else talked about is how the knicks gave up the kitchen sink for melo… well that trade looks like nothing now considering how much the clippers and lakers gave up for PG and AD

Remember “Melo-drama”. He was all pouty and wasn’t giving effort for the Nuggets that year. Bad chemistry. Got Chauncey traded from his hometown team. Piper Billups (Chauncey wife) was mad as **** :lol.

Melo really f’d up on that one btw. He was so pressed to follow the super team path in a major city...and sign under the old CBA before the lockout, that he had to go that route. And it gutted the Knicks...handicapped their future...forced them to use an amnesty, and not truly be able to build around him the best way possible.

All because he decided to take the extra year I. 2006 for the rookie contract extensions...when Bron, Wade & Bosh took less/shorter deal to make them FA’s in 2010.

“I’m from Baltimore, we don’t leave money on the table” - Melo

difference is, even if he played poorly after building that the 3-1 lead, he still played out the remainder of that series.

so just showing up is enough?

because then we have to factor in what new orleans was doing with regard to AD, as well

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The ex-wife of slain former NBA player Lorenzen Wright pleaded guilty Thursday to facilitation of first-degree murder in his shooting death nine years ago, a surprise development in one of Memphis, Tennessee's biggest murder cases.

Sherra Wright also pleaded guilty to facilitation of a criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder in a hearing in Shelby County Criminal Court. Judge Lee Coffee sentenced her to 30 years in prison.

Coffee said Sherra Wright would be eligible for parole once she served 30% of her sentence, which would be around nine years.

She had faced a life sentence if convicted at trial.

Crazy part is we haven't even brought up Isiah Thomas . I think that actually played a part in sparking this player empowerment movement, it was a hot topic among players all over the league. If IT can be traded in those circumstances, players should be able to demand trades if they don't like the color of the carpet in the locker room

That Carmelo trade is still the worst ‘superstar’ trade of the decade

Exactly. He went outside the team and shut himself down. The Spurs cleared him and were trying to pressure him to play. That's what's bad for the league. A KD situation where players damage their careers. The league is probably gonna have it's best ratings, attendance, revenue etc this season. The governors are gonna be richer than ever. I don't get what's bad for the league. If anything it puts pressure on front offices to get their **** together before guys want out

BINGO!!! This is all that needs to be said. Look at a dude like Billy King..... :lol :rollin

Clips were cruddy. Again, I’m not pretending like the FO has never historically been on some cruddy ****. I said that 10 times already.

What I’m saying is....the context Kerr was speaking in....isn’t the context Perk and them was going at him for.

They on that whole, “now he gotta coach”...”he don’t got 5 all stars no more”....”73-9...and KD joined”....blah blah blah.

Kerr is speaking about potential and trends....and what a “contract” ultimately means. It’s a larger conversation than it’s been reduced to.

It was literally the same exact convo for Kawhi except Kawhi completely refused to get on the court. The Team's medical staff cleared him, he refused to play & then him & his reps lobby'd for what team he would want to be traded too. Only difference is that the Spurs Refused to send him where he wanted to go.

Paul george literally signed a deal last season, had another player reach out to him while under contract, that player asked him to demand a trade to a specific team.... Just so said player could then sign to that team.

How is it that AD sets a bad precedent but everyone else is cool.

The league has created this “win now” or get fired culture. Ball out during a “contract year mindset” and this is what you create.

If you put the onus on and pressure on coaches and players like that. That’s whats going to happen.

My earning potential and winning potential has limits because of how things are ran so hey, let me do what’s in my best interest

One of them tight *** people that's use to the good ol boys controlling athletes.

nah, youre just being dense. you got me ****** up if you think im one of those "shut up and dribble" folk. it's just how contracts work. everyday, people sign waivers releasing responsibility, they can't suddenly go back to renegotiate the terms because something displeasing happened or a company was negligent.

at the end of the day, i don't feel bad for any party involved in these NBA contract negotiations. nba "governors" make money hand over fist, meanwhile, blake griffin is gettin paid $170 million to live and work in detroit. no one shedding tears for BG.

i mean, at least with this round of things it's dudes pairing up instead of stacking the deck

kerr should be the last dude talking about what is and isnt good for the league, when his warriors teams were probably the worst thing to happen to the league

moving all rounds to 7 games series already was a bad move on a similar front.. but then the whole damn season and playoffs pretty much became the bad of that

you had 3 home grown all NBA-ers (plus quality role guys), won the most regularly season games ever, made the finals year after winning the title and took a heroic comeback and last min shot to lose the finals.. then you add at worst the 2nd best player in the league

Well, well, welll....look what I just saw

#ClipperTown

Y’all are for player empowerment as long as that player joins your team. If not, they are a snake, coward, loser etc.

i'd say louder for the people in the back..but some folk wanna be deaf.

The organization don't stick to the contract so all that **** goes out the window.

Please pull up a quote where I called a player all that for simple changing teams. Only player I criticized is KD and that's for going to the team that he just blew a 3-1 lead to.

What was the Warriors supposed to do, not get better?

There really is no argument to have on the matter of what Kerr said in my opinion. What AD doesn't set a bad precedent. He's just doing what's right for his career. Why should these players stay on a losing team for more than half of their careers? They didn't get better and he wanted out.

People are mad that the players are exerting control over their own careers. If the player has the leverage and he wants to be traded, by all means, he has that right to request it. These organizations don't care about you. They will get rid of you at the drop of a hat.
