Georgia finally winning is annoying but Alabama being in the national championship for the past decade is A Ok?
Y’all are easily the most annoying fan base in the thread and had been before you won . So — yes. I’d prefer a hundred more Bama titles than uninformed takes from Georgia fans about how recruiting is now about to take off

For once Buckeye fans aren’t the worst :hat

Although I hate 98% of my teams entitled unrealistic fan base myself

Not a football related story but something interesting I've noticed across college sports. It seems as though the new way schools are trying to get out of paying buyouts is seeking out ways to fire coaches with cause. We have seen it with Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee and Bryan Harsin at Auburn.

I don't think it's a coincidence that as these coaches are on the cusp of getting fired, all of these stories about controversies within their programs get leaked. The schools would rather ruin their programs reputation than pay big buyouts

So he was just minding his business and going to get fired for it ?

It's already been reported that UGA hasn't found enough evidence to fire him for So this will just amount to an embarrassment for the program like it did for Tennessee and Auburn. Interesting that we've never heard about this altercation until now, just as Tom is about to get fired.

Schools are having their attorneys comb through every word of these contracts to ensure that coaches following the letter of the law and trying to manufacture reasons to fire them.

I think this was the natural progression of these multi-million dollar buyouts.

You can pin train wreck programs on coaches you’re pushing out the door and save millions of dollars. Of course this was gonna go that route.

If you’re a coach, you better be squeaky clean and you better document EVERYTHING.

Your livelihood and your reputation isn’t just about winning games anymore.

UConn tried this mess Kevin Ollie and lost their arbitration case. They were forced to pay him his money expeditiously. These firing for/with cause witch hunts rarely work and schools end up doing more damage to their programs than anything else.

I'm all in favor of firing underperforming coaches but don't try to screw them out of their money on the way out. It's not their fault that schools sign terrible contracts.

Eh that’s not entirely how or why Auburn or even Uconn did what they did.

When you fire a coach for cause you either get out of paying him the buyout, or at the least defer payment for a year or two while it goes through arbitration or court. Schools in financial binds are especially likely to try this because the deferment and risk of mess is more valuable than the expensive right now clean break. Best case scenario you get away with it but in the interim you can try to get your ducks and your boosters in a row to raise the buyout money. So, for example, instead of $19M today you push back that bill until 2024. And they’re banking on having even more funds by then.

In Auburn’s case Harsin’s buy out is rumored to go down after the iron bowl and again in January 2022 so then decided to just wait it out.

I totally agree that they're trying to kick the can down the road financially. For example, in Kevin Ollie's case, he was fired in 2018 and the arbitration courts didn't come out with a ruling until January 2022. This is also why the judge ordered UConn to pay him his entire $11 million within 10 business days 😳

Harsin is a dead man walking unless Auburn wins 10 games this year. Like you mentioned, his buyout drop significantly at the end of the regular season, so I expect him to be fired after they lose to Alabama. It's just terrible the way they've treated him and tarnished his reputation, but I guess that comes with a territory.

I will say, I find it funny that when Auburn wanted to interview Harsin as part of their investigation, his entire family suddenly went on vacation to Mexico. Plus, if her Instagram is to be believed, his alleged side piece was away in Utah that entire time as well and didn't return until after Harsin did. I know coaches go on vacation after the season but it's still funny to me

Heard him say weeks ago, “I’ve had my dream job as a head coach, I just won a Natty and I’m more than financially stable”. Knew it was coming but I was thinking maybe a year or two
