I’m not sure that this is accurate. One of the requirements under title IX law is that a victim reporting an incident be made aware of their rights under title IX. Failing to acknowledge or respond to their report for an extended period and ignoring messages (even if you’ve passed it on down the chain) wouldn’t meet that requirement. In fact, if forbid the victim were to self harm in the interim because she thought she was being ignored and silenced, for example, it accomplishes the exact opposite of its intended policy purpose.

I only know about this case from what N41D has been posting in here but if he went radio silence and she really didn’t hear back from anyone for a while, that’s a fairly strict (and if you’re anti- Jimbo, convenient) reading of that law I’d imagine.
The timing of this first case makes a TON of sense given Demas was in and out of good standing with the program, was away from the team a ton, and had a load of transfer rumors swirling around him his freshman year.

It was never reported exactly why he wasn’t around, so it was assumed to be grades or just other goofball **** given his track record coming out of high school.

Looking back, all the handwringing on A&M boards about why Demas wasn’t seeing more snaps and why Jimbo damned near wouldn’t even acknowledge his name being brought up make a ton more sense.

But, like I said, it makes sense Title IX wants coaches to have ZERO to do with these situations. I would guess, and assume it’s gotta be pretty cut and dry paper trail since this was forwarded along as it should’ve been, that parent heard from someone else that just wasn’t affiliated with the football program and wasn’t flatly ignored.

And again, I don’t disagree that feels like a questionable regulation/guideline/whatever. Not being able to even simply acknowledge something has been passed along to the appropriate parties is… odd.

I should clarify. I’m not saying Jimbo didn’t report it. What I was saying I think could be inaccurate was the reporters claim that federal laws forbids you notifying a victim that her case has been reported as she requested. Football coaches as school staff may be mandatory reporters so I understand why procedure would require them to immediately turn the case over, but I’m not sure he’s forbidden from responding to a panicked accuser. Responding “Title IX law requires me to forward your complaint to our school title IX official who will contact you,” for example.

I imagine Zwerneman was getting at that with his “does this seem sorry?” quip.

It’s the first I’d heard of it too, but Title IX is so convoluted and in a lot of cases kind of *** backwards it’s hard to keep up with what’s what.

There’s also this from that ESPN article posted on the last page from a week ago…

"The U.S. Department of Education instituted a rule change in 2020 that prohibits schools from imposing "disciplinary, punitive or unreasonably burdensome" sanctions during sexual misconduct investigations. Removal from a sports team was among the actions the government said could be deemed unreasonable. The rule was designed to ensure due process for the accused, but some coaches and others are concerned that the pendulum has swung too far."

A&M flirted with this line pretty aggressively Demas’ first year on campus, too.

It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where coaches have a zero contact policy with regards to accusations/investigations if they can’t even implement disciplinary action within their own programs because of it.

He never has been tbh
He’s fine. He had some really high graded performances this season and has an NFL frame. Someone will pick him up for their practice squad. He’s just really really really grabby. But some team will look at that and say we can coach that out of him.

This past season was tough and after Donte became HC, he didn’t have a DB coach.

I mean, saying that he is a practice squad guy kinda solidifies that he isn’t that good relative to what he was hyped up to be.

Lol. JT isn’t going to a G5 and former USC QB Jack Sears who JT beat out is already at Boise backing up Bachmeier.

JT is currently talking to Oregon State :frown:

Sounds like Burton tried to push him and JT to Ole Miss as a package deal but Kiffin only visited Burton because they’re in on Dart.

Dart who is suddenly having second thoughts about leaving USC and may wait out Caleb’s decision.
He’s not going to ND to play USC. I don’t know that ND has even contacted him. I mentioned it before but Oregon state has been recruiting him harder than anyone but he wants a sec or major P5.

Jonathan Smith is a nice coach. I could see him using JT to help elevate him to a bigger job.
His offense last year was creative and he did a lot of cool stuff with Tyjon Lindsey and the few somewhat talented skill guys they had.

They bullied the **** out of Utah, too. People forget about that.

The rumor is that the player they are referencing is Nico and Tennessee is dropping the bags. The nil money is only going up. The class of 2023 prospects know how much last year's class got and prices are only going up.

I respect the kid for getting his money but from Tennessee's perspective, it really isn't a good investment to throw this much money at any one, single recruit.

Five star QBs have a 50% bust rate over the last decade. It's like when programs change their entire future on getting one recruit who ends up not living up to expectations. Imagine being the program that would give millions of dollars to Shea Patterson or DJ U. Heck Tennessee's last 5-star QB (Harrison Bailey) ended up being an enormous bust. Makes more sense to spread that money around.

Interesting if it's Nico and Tennessee. The NIL company they're talking about is headquartered in Lincoln.

Hmm the Cali On3 guys are the ones telling people it’s Nico it looks like, in which case it would be Tennessee. Interesting.

Why the hell is a Tennessee booster org incorporated and headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska?

Speaking of Lincoln… Casey Thompson did an interview yesterday about how the NIL stuff is easier at Nebraska than it was at Texas.

Talking about smaller market, more invested. Less to do so they’re all in on football.
