if gannis had a hook shot, or something that required the nets to really tilt the defense towards him.

Kris Middleton would look a lot better.

yes Coach Bud isn't great,
yes Middleton is not the ideal second star

but fundamentally the questions is:
can you win a championship with Gannis as your primary offensive weapon?

the evidence is in; the answer is no.
I don’t think that’s fundamentally the question at all. This is a classic example of over reductive.

What is even a “primary offensive weapon” in 2020? Most great teams have multiple. Was Shaq or Kobe the primary offensive weapon? Does it matter (No.) Was Steph or KD the primary offensive weapon? (It doesn’t matter even though some stupid people still argue about it). Was Tim Duncan, Manu, Tony Parker or Kawhi the primary offensive weapon? At different times they all were... Who is the Nets primary offensive weapon this year?

In terms of the actual game, it’s clear that Giannis shouldn’t be the primary ball handler. As far as the “primary offensive weapon” the reason he isn’t is because they need at least one additional primary offensive weapon to win a championship. Can he be one of them? If the talents are complementary, absolutely.

Giannis gotta come back with a vengeance or his career is over, because KD Harden and Kyrie planning on running the East for at least the next 3yrs

Middleton deserves more slander to be real.

Why? He was never expected to be a #2 for Giannis. He's a role player. The blame goes to the front office for putting him in role he's under qualified for. Not his fault at all.

He was paid to be the #2. Tobias got slandered to hell after not showing up last year after getting paid. He improved

time for Middleton to get the same

He's definitely more than a role player. 2x all-star that plays solid defense and can get you an efficient 20 a night. He just happens to be more of a 3rd option than a #2 (like Tobias Harris). Jrue is also more of a 3rd option.

Middleton shot 50/40/90 on 20ppg.
That isn’t a role player.

He’s shooting 13/43 and 3/13 from three on 15 ppg so far against Brooklyn.

I have a problem with players who put up crazy numbers in the regular season but have their stats fall dramatically in the playoffs. That tells me you scared or you not built for the bright lights.

You're not wrong by saying this, but what I was trying to get at was people expect Middleton to have the same impact as someone like Wade or Booker does on the Suns. Playoff basketball-- he's a slightly above average player. He has no business being a secondary scoring option.

Feel like we sometimes spend too much time wrapped up in what teams pay guys.

The Bucks paid Middleton what they had to pay him to keep him there.

What was the alternative?

It means the game tightens up in the playoffs, and you're not getting the same looks you got all year. It's pretty normal.
