Where does the blame fall on the Sixers? Doc? Embiid? Simmons? Everyone?

The Hawks have heart, but they had no business winning these 2 games.

Several suboptimal choices offensively, and Embiid is the offense but the whole team & Doc really dropped the ball.

Starters run it up to 25, Hawks get it to 18 entering the 4th, the bench misses some open shots, Lou gets going against Hill with Dwight in drop and suddenly it’s 11

Embiid & Seth come back & they repeatedly went to this Seth/Embiid pick and pop and I don’t really like it when Atl has struggled with simple Embiid post ups.

He draws some fouls at first but eventually he’s going to start settling if you keep giving it to him that far out. And that’s what started happening.

Wasted possessions almost back-to-back-to-back, all look exactly the same



Simmons gets intentionally fouled, he misses both He has a brain fart defensively the very next play and Doc benches him until 2 mins left.

So now Tobias is running PnR but…. that’s not his game



Embiid finally gets it on the elbow and settles for a jumper. At this point you think he’s tired or that knee is bothering him.




They finally go back to the 1st quarter offense and just throw it to him on the block…. but he plays for the foul instead of just playing Again, either exhausted or knee pain.
9 seconds left on the clock, Doc doesn’t have a good out of bounds play ready & Tobias ends up bricking a fadeaway



Finally he rolls, he has Simmons right under the rim but Embiid doesn’t wanna deliver the ball the defense recovers and the ball goes back to Atl




Next possession, Seth/Simmons PnR, Gallo in drop, Seth misses the open 3.
Next possession Embiid draws a foul, misses both free throws. Ball game.

So offensively, nobody really did their job. 19 points in the 4th quarter after just 18 in G4. The Hawks are not an elite defense by any stretch and they’re missing two of their wings.

If Embiid keeps literally fading away late in these games, they’re done

Defensively, Trae is one of a few dynamic guards in the league & both Embiid & Seth aren’t switchable, so I can’t really call Philly’s struggles defensive “breakdowns.” Although few of those happened at points as well.

Philly has personnel that can be exploited, regardless of the team’s regular season defensive ranking. Atlanta consistently gets open looks off of various actions, sometimes they hit like in G1 and the middle 2 quarters of G4.

Sometimes they miss and dig themselves into a hole. 2nd half of last night they went back to the script & the shots started falling. Find a mismatch, attack.

Next, PnR with Thybulle & Ben. Ben gets caught in no man’s land here. Misses 2 free throws before this & gets benched.

Next, you see a Staggered screen to get Shake on Trae instead of Thybulle. Now you run PnR with Embiid in drop. Shake completely dies on the screen


Next, there’s a Straight up blow by on Thybulle.

Finally, an ugly possession here but Trae does a great improvising and baiting Thybulle who is foul prone and gets caught leaving his feet on a pump fake from a much shorter player.

That gives them the lead, Gallo shoots over Seth to get it to 3. Philly fumbles the game away on the other end.

The game plan for Atlanta is simple:

-Hunt Seth/Kork/Hill/Shake
-Take advantage of Embiid/Dwight in drop with PnR or run Bogey/Trae/Huerter off a curl with his man.
