In 2003 they weren’t buying the SEC’s “it just means more” gimmick.

Can you really call it a gimmick when the SEC has completely dominated championship games for 20 years? A gimmick would imply that there is some type of smoke and mirrors or something untrue. SEC domination is self-evident and irrefutable.

*when a few teams from the SEC have dominated championship games

I had no idea Minnesota was one of the teams that finished 5-7 and made a bowl. Their win today makes them 6-7 to finish the year

I figured he’d be coming back since he didn’t have a huge season. I’m curious about Jt, he’s a great player but other than games against Penn State he really doesn’t have much to help his cause for being a high pick

With his size, he might be a guy that needs to move around a bit to get the most out of him as a pass rusher. He’d be a problem for most guards in a NASCAR package.

😂

Since 2003, 5 different schools have won national titles. 4 of those school have won multiples titles and in totality the conference has accounted for 14 of the last 20 national champions. Y'all keep trying to say it's an unearned reputation when it really does just mean more. And I'm large part they have dominated the BCS, Playoff and NY6 bowls on the field when given the chance to go up against the other P5 conferences.

No I’ve always said their top teams have proven it on the field there’s no denying that. Nobody cares about the Ole Miss’ and Arkansas’ of the world

I know it’s been over a decade since Florida mattered but nobody cares about winning non playoff bowl games to tout a reputation fam

Well obviously it does matter when those teams are given the benefit of the doubt, yes their bowl games but OOC against them other P5 always carries weight and y'all being willingly whiny and obtuse when the proof is in da pudding is really just comical at this point.

OOC games like when the ACC washed yall this year?

Do OOC bowl games mean anything now?

Honestly with the number of players who pull out or transfer and don't play, normally the teams matching up are nothing close to the teams that played in the regular season.

As the playoff and stuff have evolved and mainly transfer portal they mean significantly less than before but just speaking moreso in the general sense for the last 20 years. We rarely got high profile matchups in season amongst the power conferences outside of the rivalry games and the bowl games especially during the BCS era was where those matchups amongst the top teams of the top occured. It absolutely had an effect on how good or bad your conference was perception the season of and especially springboarding into the rankings for the following season.

100%.

OSU’s game against Mizzou for instance, is it meaningless? Eh to an extent because it’s not going to benefit them other than a few spots in the rankings.I’m more so excited to watch the younger players get actual game time and see a glimpse of what to expect next year. When all those players for OSU opted out of the rose bowl against Utah we got to see JSN and Marv play a bunch for the first time and it was dope. The opt outs, portal, etc. have definitely made a lot of games lose their luster but it’s still fun football to watch.

No, bowl games don’t carry the weight that they used to ever since players figured out they’re nothing more than glorified exhibition games outside of the CFP. Unfortunately, since these bowl games payout a ton of money schools keep participating in them.
