OFFICIAL COMIC BOOK THREAD

I liked BP #1 more than I thought I would. Was very well-written and had a really African Game of Thrones/LOTR/fantasy feel to it.

Last run was too busy trying to set up Wakanda as the perfect nation, heaven on earth ("shall we give them the cure for cancer?" :rolleyes).

Looking forward to this run. Is this dude writing the movie as well?

I never was a fan of BP even when I was a kid I got the sense Marvel never took him seriously.

until I read Hickmans take on the character in New Avengers, its not a perfect run but the Black Panther stuff is just incredible and I think criminally over looker.

I think it's great that Marvel brining the character back into the forefront.

and better yet getting possibly the great living young black writer to do it.

I'm tired of this status quo, I'm ready for it to all fall apart and for the main crew to move on.

:lol If Neagan seduces the Whisperers leader or even manipulates her in to a war would just be too predictable and kinda boring/laughable.

Anyone read the wolverine x23 comic? Any good? Or a pass.

i read an issue it was solid.

I like x-23 as a character, I feel like she was a gimmick at one point but, bendis and others really turned her into something interesting. I don't like her wolverine costume though

I'm a fan of Tom Taylor if you mean the Wolverine book he's writing where X-23 is now Wolverine. He's really good.

I'll be reading that book in trade though.

On another note, DC just fired Shelly Bond as an editor on Vertigo after 20 years there for w/e reason regarding money and the success of the line recently. I really wish would try their hand at a comic line that's similar.

They legit spearheaded this with Epic comics back in the 80s and then cancelled that and aint bother since :{

I remember hearing or reading somewhere that the reason vertigo died, is because financially the deal that Image is offering is way better for the creators, and once image started to go after Vrtigo type books it was a wrap.

the type of writer-artist that would do a vertigo book in the 90's now just goes to image, a gets more money + ownership.

and it wont comeback unless they start offering something similar to what image offers creaotors.

I just started reading Priests run on BP. It's pretty good. Want a fan of how everybody was in flashbacks, but I got used to it. BP is a boss though so many abilities :lol

Yeah that's like the main reason.

Most of the stuff at Vertigo is creator owned but due to the deals DC/WB owns the rights. So before we get to a Rob Kirkman or Mark Millar type opportunity with a show or movie from a comic creator's income they're not getting the best deal for what's mostly creator driven work :{

I haven't read anything new in a while. I was thinking of getting X-Men 92 and Black Panther. Might visit the local shop tomorrow.

When did BP #1 release? I just came back from the shop and they told me that one sold quick. I didn't even know BP was popular like that.

So BP's only been out for 3 weeks? I haven't had trouble getting a new series in the past. There's always been copies to buy. The only time this happened was when I was getting Death of Wolverine #4. That was because of me though.

Guess I have to stay up to date and make sure I get #2 when it releases.

Free Comic Book Day is coming up. Anyone know what the big publishers are offering this year?
