NT Fam, tell me your thoughts on this, please:
I have an ungraded copy of Brave & The Bold #28 that I'd peg at about a 3.5-4.0. I copped 28, 29 & 30 for $800 a few years back and keep them in my safe. Maybe I'll CGC 28 someday, but whatever...
Anyway, yesterday for the hell of it I thought I'd see what some similar copies have sold for recently on ebay and in the list of results was an ad page from a comic in early 1960 promoting the upcoming B&B 28 issue. Really cool ad, but of course it had already sold. I did see that an issue of House of Mystery from that year had the ad in it, and I found a seller with a "reading copy" listed. He had a pic of the 1st story page in his listing, but no other internal shots. I contacted him thru the ebay messager asking him if he could take a pic of the ad page and explaining I really only want the book so I can cut out the ad page and frame it for my office. I was very polite, wished him a pleasant holiday and everything.
This dude replies twice. The first time he says: "No. That is a ridiculous question. In fact, don't ever buy or bid on anything I put up to offer. Wow."
His second message was: "That was a highly disrespectful thing to ask. You are blocked. Have a nice life."
I was thrown for a loop. I replied I didn't think it mattered what I wanted to do with something I bought from him (especially a trash copy of House of friggin' Mystery) and basically that he was a judgmental jerk who lost out on a lot of potential future business (I have like 10k books and am always buying silver & bronze stuff).
Am I really that wrong in wanting a junk copy of this book just for the ad? I don't think it's any different than buying a junk car for spare parts.
Or do you guys tend to agree with me that this guy's just a royal douche?
