OFFICIAL COMIC BOOK THREAD

as a non-Dredd fan, I love the Stallone movie. I love the Urban movie too.

Cannot recommend Priest's run enough, especially because Marvel recently reprinted it in new, larger volumes, in anticipation for his coming film. Therefore, you could easily get years worth of story in just 4 books, which are easy to find at the moment. I'd honestly say that that's the run that put the character on the map.

Reading Star Wars Force Storm on MU. I mainly been reading the old Marvel comics and its crazy reading new comics compared to them. New comics move hella quick, and jump over a lotta things that could be developed over issues. Don't know which style I prefer because sometimes I feel as if the old comics are too damn long and don't finish in one sitting and with these new ones I be like damn they could've further developed that.

Yeah there's a yin and yang to it.

Writers as early back to the 90s were very descriptive (or longwinded) for a comic ghee way they'd use narration and fill panels with word bubbles. Allowing a lot to be accomplished in a single issue but risks just being boring

There was a change to the decompression style in the early 2000s that leave some readers just wanting more by the end of an issue. Stories that could be told in one or two issues became 3-5 issue story arcs. Of course this risks issues where nothing happens or the feeling of that.

Anyone else reading Unworthy Thor? :eek :hat I'm enjoying this adventure of Odinson on his path back to worthiness. Not too familiar with Thori the Hel-hound, but he's a cool character. If anything, making Thor unworthy has given them the opportunity for this story. Plus Beta Ray Bill and Toothgnasher. :hat

Was looking at the new releases and saw DC had a Ryan Choi Atom one-shot. It wasn't bad. It ties up with the Rebirth special. Apparently there's going to be a JLA team with Ryan Choi, Vixen, The Ray, Lobo, and some others. :eek Did not expect that at all, but it sounds dope. Batman is in it too, but I guess you need him there or this book is dead in the water.

Yeah it's dope. Coipiel is great on art as usual.

Gotta get to today's issue.

I wonder what the long term plan is for Odinson and what it means for Jane Foster.

Been lagging behind. I've been catching up on some comics today. This Cage! mini is amazing. :lol I want to see Tartakovsky do other characters in this same vein. I want to see a 70s Adam Warlock or X-Men with his writing and art style. It'll probably never happen knowing how long it took to get Cage! out.

They're gonna be 2 Thors for as long as Jason Aaron writes the book. One with the OG mjolnir and the other with the ultimate version.

Unworthy Thor has been straight. Does the best it can to work around the mess that's been made of the character's history. As with his other appearances, i'm annoyed at the whining about not having Mjolnir and not being Worthy, but we're obviously (hopefully) about to put that behind us with the aquisition of the new hammer.

:lol What "mess"? What happened with Thor's history since Aaron came on?

Retconning of Mjolnir, not only in terms of the hammer's origin, but it's connection to both Odin and Thor, which in turns leads to a retconning of Thor's own history and the concept of his initial worthiness, even without the revelation of what it was that Fury whispered to him during Original Sin, which also led to a retcon of the power the hammer has. Thor losing the hammer has also led to a retconning of his own natural powers without the hammer. There have been retcons all over the place dude :lol

I don't see any mess with mjolnir's secret origin of being a sentient storm Odin subdued and trapped in to uru that became the hammer. Thor has always talked to and commanded it as if it was something that could understand him instead of simply gesturing.

The worthiness enchanment or Thor's initial worthiness or the concept of it doesn't change much. Its just something added to what we knew. People thought it was simply the worthiness spell Odin cast. Now it's that and the sentient storm also deciding on your worthiness.

As far as what Fury whispered, we don't know what he said or what it entails and how it impacts Thor's unworthiness. Its still a mystery. The only thing we know is Fury said or revealed something that resulted in Thor no longer being worthy. Everything else is speculation regarding that.

What natural powersndid Thor lose? Don't confuse not using a power for losing it. In general, writers have gone back and forth ignoring abilities Thor has for the sake of their story. That's not really a retcon. There hasn't been parts of this story where Thor is like since I lost the hammer I am no longer Asgardian or a GOD of thunder. Technically if Thor kept all of his powers he's learned over time he'd be able to use magic on the level of any wizard in Marvel.

I'm not saying there aren't retcons. I just don't see how they've made things a mess. Its rather easy to follow and I'm not seeing a lot contradicting the previous Thor run let alone all of Thor history.

That's whatever to me, I highly doubt anyone intends to develop Mjolnir as a character... But I gotta get back on my comic tip to see what yall are arguing about.

Last I checked Thor(ess) was going swimmingly. Didn't know OG Thor got his own solo now

Since they took the time to throw in this sentient storm thing, which had been implied to have its own agenda in all this, they probably will to some extent.

With his film coming up, it was a given Thor would either get his own solo or take over Jane's. Definitely suggest tchecking it out. Three issues so far have been good, getting the OG Thor out of this rut he's been in.

Also suggest people check out the current Black Panther title.

I heard Image is going to have a new policy for creators to have 6 issues in the can before they can publish or something like that.

The worst I've had to wait was a month delay between issues of The Fix, but I know some other series can be pretty bad.

The new Thor book is not an ongoing solo.

Its a mini and will end I think by March.

Expect Odinson to just end up in the main Thor book.

This is why I hold off on all Image books and just get omnibus collections or a handful of trades

Reading indie comics reminds me of reading certain manga that would take insanely long breaks. Its ******* ridiculous.
