Ryan Callahan named captain of the Rangers... well deserved
Listed at 257....if he's in the 270's, there is a good chance he is close to 20+ pounds overweight.Originally Posted by hawkflight6
Further information on the Dustin Byfuglien situation which doesn't make it sound as bad as when it was originally reported.
He did pass the breathlyzer test but was arrested for refusing a blood test, he has been in Winnipeg this week looking for a house so he has no problems crossing the border.
The weight thing was blown out of proportion-at the end of the Thrashers season in spring he weighed 269 lbs and when he was arrested he was in the 270's, not 286 as was reported. So he was only a couple pounds overweight as opposed to some of the reports that had him 20-30 lbs overweight.
Now we just gotta sign Bogosian and we're ready to go
This is the crazy part to me...usually players report to camp at their max weight...but during the season they drop 10-15 pounds (give or take). The #@*% was Big Buff doing that he weighed close to 290 when everything wrapped up? He's doing it wrongOriginally Posted by hawkflight6
^ TSN NHL Insider Bob McKenzie reported those numbers, but I did get some of them wrong. He started the season at 269 and weighed 288 at the end of the season. Right now its believed he's somewhere in the 270's
Sources have told TSN that Los Angeles Kings GM Dean Lombardi has made it clear to Drew Doughty's agent, Don Meehan, that the Kings have no intension of paying Doughty more than Anze Kopitar's $6.8 million annual average salary.
It's believed Doughty wants a minimum of $7 million per season, but the Kings are offering seven years at $6.8 million per, so the question is: Who's going to blink?
Given the possibility of a deal not getting done before training camp opens and Doughty holding out, the temperature inside the Kings offices is rising to the point it's been suggested the Kings may pull their offer by the end of the week.
Perhaps less stressful times for Toronto's Luke Schenn, who also remains a notable restricted free agent still in need of a new contract.
All involved in Schenn's negotiation with the Leafs remain optimistic a deal will be reached this week; however Zach Bogosian's two-year, $5 million dollar deal with the Winnipeg Jets could slow progress if the Leafs use Bogosian as a comparable.
It's believed Schenn is seeking compensation similar to the $3.9 million New York Rangers defenceman Marc Staal is earning.
Somewhere between Staal and Bogosian seems to be a good fit for Luke Schenn.
Buffalo Sabres defenceman Tyler Myers has agreed to terms on a seven-year contract extension, believed to be worth in the neighbourhood of $5.5 million per season.

Myers deal in BUF is 7 years, $38.5M for a cap hit of $5.5 beginning the 12-13 season. Gets a $10M SB on July 1/12 with $2M in 1st yr salary
So Myers gets $12M in Year 1, followed by years of $6M, $5M, $5M, $4M, $3.5M, $3M.

Luke Schenn agreed to a five-year contract with the club on Thursday night. While exact details of the deal have not been made official, It's believed that the deal is worth $3.6 million per season.
