That was despicable an I like Emery. the caps player near the ref was like "what are you doing not stopping this?" He knew not to step in but I'm sorry the ref has to intervene. Holtby didn't throw one punch and the back of his head was getting pounded. He seemed ok which is good. Now our two leading scorers are out injured from that dumb ****. Simmonds and Schenns fights were fine just your regular scrap, but Emery didn't need to do all that smh and Vinny DEFINITELY didn't need to drop the gloves. Wish Rinaldo was out there in his place. Ugh this is all bad.

Gonna take at least a year for the new coaches to get my attention (Ruff, Torts, Vigneault, Eakins, etc.)...so many changes for each that need to be made, that it's almost impossible to expect immediate returns.

Caps back to .500 and Ovechkin is back on Tuesday (supposedly).

My hope is that Adam Oates splits up Backstrom/Ovechkin. Backstrom really flourishes w/o Ovechkin on his line. Obviously, he'll still get his chances with #8 on the PP, but for 5v5, the team will be MUCH more balanced if they are split.

I'd do something like this:

Erat - Backstrom - Fehr
Ovechkin - Johansson - Brouwer
Chimera - Grabo - Ward
Volpatti - Latta - Wilson

*Just not sure where to put Laich....I'd honestly be burning up the phones if I was McPhee and see what I can get in return for either Laich or Mike Green.

Against Carolina, 3 goals, forget shots (7?), +2.

I'm aware, and I still don't care, that "unwritten rules" gets broken all the time, and in a blowout brawl, it always gets broken.

All I see on twitter, is "thug" "goon" "should be suspended a long time" from people who support fighting, if you support fighting **** like this happens sometimes, you just need to deal with it.

Man...Emery deserved to be tossed and that was it. And this is coming from a Caps fan. I saw idiots actually suggesting that he should be arrested for assault. I couldn't care less if he was suspended or not. Not sure what's going to happen the next time they play other than someone crashing the crease. Honestly, I think that's the end of the Caps beef w/ Emery. They destroyed them on the scoreboard and left two of their top-6 forwards out for an extended period of time w/ injuries. Lecavalier is sipping steak thru a straw and Downie has fragments of bone floating through his face like them asteroids in gravity. I think everything is settled. As it should be.

Apparently Emery couldn't have been suspended for that anyways due to the way the rule is written. I think it's to prevent guys like Sean Avery from baiting a guy into a fight then running away, it mentions "unwilling participant" really I think people should be equally mad at the ref. that was embarassing by him they break up fights with two willin guys all the time but you're just gonna chill and watch a guy get pummeled who didn't want to fight? ah well it's over now hope Holtby is ok and Ray came back and got a shut out. Hope mason plays next time we get the caps bc Ray would be getting run at all game...though he probably is the best fighter on our team

for sure. it definitely gets broken...but those fighters that habitually do that **** are considered scum bags

for the record, arrest and suspension is ridiculous to want for this incident. i agree with you that people are overreacting in terms of that. but as far as calling him a thug or douche...very warranted.

New to watching hockey what are the rules on fighting written and unwritten

it's just some small stuff. off the top of my head:

- a guy goes down, you stop throwing
- PREVIOUSLY...if you have a visor and try and fight someone without one...lose your helmet. that one can't happen anymore as it's illegal to intentionally remove your helmet for a fight.
- if one guy just got on the ice, you typically don't challenge people who are nearing the end of a shift...because one guy is fresh and the other is probably winded

Ray Emery aka RAZER is actually friggen crazy. Most messed up athlete I know..... He used to just bang broads in clubs bathrooms and busboy rooms. He's mental... I've seen the guy lose it a few times when he was with us...:x
