I'm finally upgrading from my crappy phone to an iPhone this friday (if I can get my hands on one) at an Apple Store. Put one on "reserve" and everything. My question is, does Apple change your current SIM card with a new one? (at the same time transferring whatever was on the old on onto the new one)

I ask this b/c my current phone won't make phone calls/send texts/access the internet if I'm in the Edge network. Only in 3G. It's been like this for a while. I think it's my SIM card that is to blame, and the fact that my phone is 2 years old doesn't help either.

If they don't, does Best Buy? Or does any AT&T carrier/kiosk offer a service that does that (if I were to pick up the phone on friday from Apple w/o a new SIM card).? Thanks is advance!

if it was like the 2g and 3g iPhone there's already a SIM card in there, you just need to activate it via itunes either as a new account or current account

thanks. i appreciate the answer, but I'm still not sure of it. Maybe if I restate my question and clarify a bit. I have a black jack (yes, soooooo oldhaha) which has a 3G sim card in it (I assume, it says 3G on it), will apple be able to give me a brand new SIM card? (a precautionary measure for me, b/c myblack jack wont make phone calls/texts/internet if i'm not in 3G..basically E(dge), cuz i don't wanna have the same problem with this brand new phonei'm going to get (3Gs))

hopefully that clears it up a bit. thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Video Recording is only for 3GS I believe.

Also,

For those souls still running a OG 2G like myself, we don't necessarily have to wait till Friday to update/jailbreak/unlock as the devs are going to bereleasing an updated version of QUICKPWN for FW 3.0 sooner.

So 2Gers, a simple update to 3.0 via iTunes then a quickpwn afterwards should do the trick.

BUT, AN UPDATED QUICKPWN FOR IPHONE 2G HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED. THEREFORE, IF YOU UPDATE YOUR 2G IPHONE TO3.0, YOU'LL BE STUCK ON THE 'EMERGENCY CALL ONLY' SCREEN.

Havent read through the thread yet.....

Can the people with the Iphone 3g(jailbroken) update safely to 3.0???

go to Settings > General > Home and choose what you want. (I'm assuming you mean what happens when you double click the home button)

I looked, I'm going to play around with 3.0 first and see what it's about then probably sell it. I have not really decided yet. The $5.99 vs $24.99 amonth is the only thing I'm on the fence about.

alright my friend updated and lost all his apps... What must he do to get em back ? i did it perfectly fine and didn't lose my apps.

Go to the app store and get em again. The phone should recognize he already had them and will display a "You've already purchased this item, todownload again press ok" message. It does it for the free apps too for some reason, so tell him to try it with a free app first if he doesn't want torisk paying for one again.

I didn't lose anything in the update

No Video, No MMS, No tethering, plus I have everything else exept for a compass. Thats why I'm sticking to my jail broken 2.2.1 firmware until somethingbigger happens. What a huge let down I think people are doing it more because of the hype. Does anyone agree?

you can always restore to factory setting and back up... i have never seen someone brick a phone up here...
Thanks. I guess my question is, if I even restore to factory settings, are they able to find out if you jailbreaked it? My friend claims they areable to find out if you jailbreaked it or not.

There is not a way for them to figure it out, it is just like a brand new iPhone out of the box.

not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but whatever

whenever i try to sync my ipod, it wont let me

i can connect it via usb and everything, but when i click 'sync' nothing really happens. that thing at the top that shows what song youre playing etcsays 'syncing' but it really is not. if i eject my ipod and remove it, that thing at the top of itunes still says 'syncing' even with no ipodconnected

ive tried the usual solutions of restarting my comp and updating to the newest itunes but neither have worked

its been like this for like 2 or 3 weeks now

not even my brother's ipod will sync

I got tethering to work! thanks to 23MichaelJordan45 for posting that link
