The assists numbers and how he leads the team is the biggest revelation. I don't completely remember, but I don't think Flip was that great a facilitator.
Flip Murray did it all just like this, he came out of a D2 school and went off, he was the buzz of the league. I know your a Knicks fan and want this to last but in reality will it. Im with you Lin IQ is great thats gonna take him a long way, but 4 games is too early for a conclusion.

You really wanna see him fail huh? But Flip was only a scorer. Lin's scoring isnt even the reason the Knicks need him. He has great court vision and is good in the pick and roll. That is what the knicks needed at point. Not someone who wants to go out and score (looking at you Tony Douglas). Lin will be around for a little while but obviously the 25+ point games wont last when Amare and Melo get back but I would hope people arent stupid enough to say "look I told you he would fall off" when hes out there dropping 14 and 8+ assists per night just because he isnt out there doing exactly what hes done in these last 4 games with Tyson Chandler being the second scoring option.
The kid plays point well and can score when needed. I can see why he was cut by GS tho. He wasnt gonna get a lot of burn infront of Curry, Monte, and Dorell (although with the injuries to Steph they could have used him) but on the Knicks hes the best option right now and he is more than capable of running the point.

Understandable, it's still very early and there are a lot of variables that could effect the situation.

Can't make a conclusion after 4 games, but this is a helluva start. I'd be ecstatic if he could average 10-15 pts and 7 assists.

The question that JA Adande or any black journalist should be asking but will NEVER ask is why a player who could go off for 38 on LA and break statistical records in the NBA was languishing on the bench... a game away from being cut from the NBA altogether. Why Trent Johnson at Stanford would go so far as to lie to him in order to deny him a scholarship and Mark Jackson would cut him WITHOUT EVEN EVER SEEING HIM PRACTICE on the court

Somehow it seems less racist I guess if you pretend that Lin came out of nowhere and that he hadn't been tearing up every level of competition (including NBA D League and even team practices).
If this is true, Mark Jackson's a bum.

they had to cut him for extra cap space, so we could try to sign d jordan. it didnt work out

Sad if what you got from my post is me wanting him to fail. This is america everybody loves the under dog, I wanna see him continue his play too. I simply told the cautionary tale of Flip Murray and other players who have done similar. I know basketball very well and his confidence is at an all time high, and believe me confidence in ones ability is half the game right there, let me see how he responds mentally when he steps up to elite PG's or has a poor performance. BTW please don't bring up the Lakers adjustments on him last night because that was trash, but back to the point I hope Lin keeps going off, he is a hard worker and earned his playing time

im with you I actually think he can do that in this league, so those averages are realistic

Respect.  Thanks for bringing some knowledge and bringing up Flip Murray.  But, the only thing I can say is this cat LIN is doing it in NY

Mad props to Flip on doing what he did back then, but doing this on a big stage, big pressure, having NY media on his back....pretty incredible.

If Lin was JUST going on a scoring tear, I would be more skeptical. But this dude might be a replacement for Jerry Sloan's viagra with the way he runs the pick and roll and sees the court. So of course his scoring numbers will drop. It's his assist numbers I'm watching. His ball handling and court vision are what I respect the most thus far.

The boy is puttin up NBA records, of course people will start doubting him. to be honest, noone will believe in him until he's faced every team in the league. its gonna be

"can he do this against an elite PG ?"
"can he do this against a strong defensive minded team?"
"can he do this against the heat ?"
"can he do this against the bulls?"
"when he has a bad game, can he bounce back?"
"what happens when amare/melo come back?"

Throughout the REST OF THIS SEASON, he will face a new question every night, Guaranteed. And it's understandable, who the hell on this board has ever seen anything like this? its just natural for us to question his abilities.

But if you think the boy is still a fluke, just a flash in the pan, a one hit wonder, you're out of your mind. Beyond the statistics, beyond him breaking NBA records, beyond him trumping career highs in the last 4 games, he's done the most important thing, WON. He's LED the team to these 4 victories. He took the biggest shots on the biggest stage (Friday night, Nationally televised game against Kobe & the Lakers at MSG), made them, and continued to adapt to how teams are playing him. The Lakers threw every defensive rotation they had against him, and what he do? Dropped damn near 40 on their heads.

His game is so cerebral that its stupid to say he won't be able to adjust. He watched game film at half time man , cmon.

What else can teams do more than play him to his weak side (left), go under the screens so he could shoot, put traps on him early, and double him? The Lakers tried playing physical and beat him up early but just ask DFISH how deceptive that spin move was. When Amare and Melo get back, do you really want to double him all game, leaving a shooter, Melo, Amare or Tyson open?

Rubio is definately one of the top PGs in the NBA, but Lin is gonna let the league know he aint no joke. LETS GET THIS W!!!

happy for him...but something about his game just looks off at times

Who are these elite PGs you want to see him play against tho? Apparently Wall, Rondo, and Deron arent good enough for you. And then im apparently not allowed to bring up the Lakers game when everyone was saying he wasnt gonna be able to get in the lane and make things happen with Gasol and Bynum in there but we all saw what happened last night. Do we have to wait till April when the Knicks play the Bulls, or till the second to last game of the season against the Clippers? You basically called 3 of the top 5 or 6 PGs in the league scrubs.
And then right after that post you make another post basically agreeing with me quoting HTTB by saying you think he can drop 10-15 with 7 assists. Im not quite sure where you stand.
