I posted this in the MCU thread, figured I'd post it here too:

While I haven't seen Black Panther, I have a feeling that To Pimp A Butterfly will fit well with what we're about to watch. In the same vein that Jay drew inspiration from American Gangster for that album, we'll see similar themes in BP and TPAB. Vengeance, inner conflict, going home to Africa to self reflect, becoming a leader, and empowering his people. I'm looking forward to listening to To Pimp a Butterfly right after I watch the movie.

TPAB incorporated a lot of jazz
There's basically none on the soundtrack
Kinda has an electric-type (Run the Jewels) of feel to me (the movie as well)

Jazz and Funk. But subject matter on TPAB and BP will draw parallels.

But I definitely agree that electric RTJ sound aligns with the Wakanda advanced technology vibe. I really want to hear the Anderson .Paak song too.
