IGN Ratings for L.A. Noire (PS3)
out of 10Click here for ratings guide
8.5Presentation
The story doesn't match the great performances. The "game" elements are sometimes distracting from the immersive environment.
8.0Graphics
The faces are pretty damned awesome -- it's the actors, after all. L.A. in the ‘40s looks good. At times the framerate stutters and there are a few annoying graphical glitches here and there.
10Sound
So much great voice work. The real star is the soundtrack.
8.5Gameplay
Despite its flaws, L.A. Noire does something we've never seen before. It's too often repetitive and predicatble, but it's still enjoyable.
8.0Lasting Appeal
Depending on how much time you devote to exploring the city, it will take anywhere from 12 to 20 hours to beat. Many won't find a reason to return.

After reading & watching that review I think the person who did the review was expecting & disappointed the game wasn't more similar to GTA.

Heck IGN continues to get worse altogether, they don't even have Jessica Chobot doing the daily fix anymore.

Gamespot & Gametrailers reviews are more on point.

Got my cousin to preorder mine.  We'll head out to pick ours up at midnight, but I won't get to play it until after tomorrow though.

i dont think the game is worth me going to a midnight release....the no multiplayer really will hurt this game. Rockstar needs to put out a DLC for that immediately. Unfortunately, this game could go down as #3 as most hyped up game of year to flop. Joining the likes of HomeFront and Brink.

at first, i was going to do an immediate buy but no multiplayer and the fact this game has heavy rain elements, i'll wait for a sale.

I really don't see how anyone could expect a game like this to have a multiplayer.

Like has been said before, LA Noire isn't a traditional shoot em up, action oriented R* game like RDR or GTAIV.
