OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024 OFFSEASON THREAD

Hopefully Westbrook buys into any role given and this doesn't eat into TMann's playing time. Especially in the crunch. He's been ballin and is exactly what this team needed in a PG thus far. Hopefully this all works out but if there's any sign that he becomes a distraction or a chemistry killer, they cut him quickly. We really don't need another Trezz in the Bubble-like situation come playoff time.

The thing about Westbrook and bones... But specifically Westbrook, is you have to play him.

He's gonna eat into minutes that those players need to be successful.

I'd like to think that the clippers from office has told Westbrook that they don't need him to shoot any outside shots at all. If like to think that they told him that drive and kick is gonna be what the clippers need from him.

But Westbrook won't listen. He is who he is. The "second half" of this season isn't enough time to play with this team. There's already several pieces added that actually have this team looking much better. Not sure why the clippers would want to add a stick of dynamite to the equation.

Not a fan of this move whatsoever.

he can never or ever will accept the fact that he isnt the a star and #1, #2, #3, #4 or #5 option anymore

thats the problem, with the lakers he came off the bench but still played 30min a game and acted like he can win it by himself

he cant defend

he cant shoot

the move simply do not make sense when they already got roco, coffey, boston, etc... not getting pt

this is the dumbest move this team has ever made

they already tried this experiment with wall and a guy who cant guard and cant shoot just didnt work out

what made gordon and bones is that they can stretch the floor, teams are just going to leave russ alone behind the arc like they do with wall ang the teams gon be playing 4 on 5

IT JUST DOESNT MAKE SENSE

Wall was quietly worse than Russ this season. I think the team will face the same issues they had with Wall though. I agree he shouldn’t take 3’s, but if he flat out doesn’t shoot any, that also hurts us with spacing. We’re already turnover prone, adding this guy is just gonna make it worse. He’s also been an awful defender. Starting him over Mann would be awful. If he is gonna start, I would be interested to see this lineup at least once.

Russ
Mann
PG
Kawhi
Zu

With the bench unit being:

EJ
Norm
Morris
Batum
Plumlee

And then that means little-to-no minutes for Bones. Not that he’s been good in his first 2 games though.

We’ll see how it plays out. My expectations is that this will be the worst roster move in the history of the franchise. Anything other than that would be a pleasant surprise to me.

Damn, I just saw rfx45 rfx45 alrrady said everything I said a few posts earlier

Statistically, shooting the ball and with turnovers, wall is like Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man with Westbrook.

Whether Westbrook shoots or not, his presence on court affects spacing.

At this point, it is what it is. We'll hope for the best.

Imo, we will see Westbrook involved in alot of centerless lineups, especially if the clippers can tread water on the glass. I.e. Westbrook with:
PG/Kawhi/Batum/eg
Sub Bones, Covington, Morris anywhere in that lineup.

There's a small window for this to work, I personally don't think it will.

Interesting take from 3 former players (all played for the Clippers at one point) about Brodie playing for the Clipps. I think this can work for us and seeing Brodie's press conference yesterday, he was all smiles. Don't think I have seen him smile like that since his OKC days.

that really means nothing to me, dude was ecstatic to join lj and ad

him starting over mann eventuall is already a bad thing, not just mentally for mann but just his overall contributions

i mean the sportsbooks worsened the odds of the clips winning a chip after the russ addition

where the hell does that happen?

id love to be proven wrong but its difficult to be happy about this team right now

Russ starting over Morris is something I can maybe get behind. Starting over Mann while Mann is playing at this level, is not the move.
Agreed. I don't really worry about how it will effect Mann long term because he's shown he's a gamer starting or coming off the bench. But we've been good with him starting, so its an "if it aint broke" situation to me.

I don't know, man. Mostly I'm just praying a lot right now . . . and I am by no means a religious person.

im afraid the mental roller coasters going to affect mann

i mean he was mediocre until he actually got pt and started and it was no coincidence that once the trades happened and he didnt have to worry about reggie and luke that he started playing much better

despite him playing well, his pt on the 4th was already super sporadic and it might even get worse now

ty also has doc tendencies where he plays/trusts veterans way more/too much so this just doesnt bode well for any young players

The baggage that comes with Russ is just different, man.

I’ve experienced a wide range of emotions over being a Clippers fan for 35 years, but I’m not sure I’ve had a more just kind of weird feeling about the team than I do now.

I get a lot of people not expecting the Russ thing to work, but I am a little surprised just how many people seem to be actively rooting for it to fail colossally.

I don’t blame anybody for rooting against us.
I’ve actively rooted against russ for about a decade now. Just an unlikeable player on the court. Hated that PG/Russ team too. I loved when Dame put them out

just cant believe kawhi said yes to it

i figure dude aint gon have any of it

this dudes gon be dancin

After watching nuggets v. Cavs tonight, Reggie Jackson did a lot of little things that the clippers have needed all season. Pushing the ball, playing fast and getting others involved.

I'm like where tf was this guy when we needed him? He didn't have a particularly notable game, but he did the little things. Not just camping out waiting to take a contested 3.

The Reggie gallop even made an appearance on a fast break.

Smh

Like I said to lawdog1 lawdog1 in the NBA thread. I'm give the Westbrook experiment 15 games before it's over. I wanna say 10 games... But I'll give it 15.

There was another guy on that Laker team that didn't accept he isn't the #1 option anymore and can't defend or shoot.

If he’s as bad as he was with the Lakers, we bench/release him and he never plays in the NBA again. Win/win
