Damn, I heard the weather was wacky in LA today,

Out in Palos Verdes/San Pedro it was a nice day.

I guess it is kind of random, but the Dodgers Dream Foundation had their annual golf tourney today at Trump National. It was fun as hell, although I see Broxand Bills often, it still surprises the hell out of me when I see them in street clothes and they still look huge. Two big boys there,
eek.gif
. I don't know if you guys listen to Petros Papadakis and Matt"Money" Smith, but he dubbed Chad "the %%# Man" Billingsley,

.

They also had a silent auction, Andruw Jones' autographed ball got no bids,

. Should of jumped on it for $40, you have to buy low.

Can't wait for this weekend series against the surprising Cards. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow, might put a damper on Fireworks night.

^I think the forecast for tomorrow is isolated thunderstorms, at least in my area. I hope the rain doesn't rain out.

I'm in corona, and about 15 miles south Lake Elsinore got some tornados.

and right now on my way to school (san berdo) the cajon pass is snowing.

I rather have this weather than it steaming here.

Anyways, its time for the dodgers to gain ground! The dbacks are struggling, and dodgers are playing good ball.

I'm expecting furcal to come through tonight, him and pierre at the top of the order will cause havok. Please don't attempt to play andruw.

Lets get it & betterrr yet got lakeshow yessssss

Looks like the rain will keep me away tonight, might go on Saturday or Sunday (if the weather is nice).

It looks pretty good out here in the IE, what's the weather to the people more west of me?

I don't think raffy is going to be starting today .... go dodgers!

Go lakeshow!!!

GAMETIME IS ABOUT NEAR!

And LAKESHOW GOT A LEAD AT HALFTIME!

LETS DOUBLE UP 2 WINS FOR TONIGHT

Tough loss tonight. Quality start by Lowe, but he ends up with the loss.

Furcal had a slight setback, as he had stiffness in his back yesterday, so he probably won't be back this weekend. Hopefully my earlier prediction ofFurcal returning around the first week of June doesn't prove to be correct.

But good news also as all reports indicate that Clayton Kershaw (top prospect in the Dodgers organization) will be called up from AA Jacksonville to startSunday vs. the Cardinals. Tough matchup vs. the Cards but he's definitely capable of pitching well.

With the need for a 5th starter coming up, hopefully Kershaw can provide a boost.

Can't wait to see the fastball setting up that hammer curve of his.

The thing with Lowe is, he gets himself behind so many counts 2-0; 3-1: 3-0, 2-1 so he has little error to throw another ball. He gets down a small lead andour offense couldn't pull through.

Raffy can't catch a break, looks like he was going to have an allstar season, but by the looks of it he can't even see the likes of the field.

I've read many articles on clayton's call up, goodluck to the kid. So what the hell is Loaiza up too? why can't we just designate him?

started Monday at Single A with Inland Empire. Went 3 innings and gave up 3 hits and 1 run. With Kershaw expected to be called up, Loaiza probably willstart a couple more games in the minors.
Dodgers probably don't want to designate him for assignment because of the uncertainty of the pitching. Whoknows how Kershaw will react in his first major league game and the Dodgers probably don't have too much confidence in Schmidt being able to help them toomuch, so Loaiza is probably going to be kept around as "insurance." Not the best option anymore, but Loaiza can eat up some innings. Park and Kuoare ok options, but so far this season they seem better suited as long relievers and Torre also seems to like them coming out of the pen.

so my wife and I are watching the game and the rain delay starts. SO they start showing In My Own Words. First one is Pierre. cool. Next up is Jeff Kent. Mywife looks at me and says, "That's Jeff Kent? He plays 2nd base right?" I said, "Yeah, good job babe. haha" She gives me a semistoneface and then says, "Wow, he's a jerk."

I said pretty much.

Great win for my Cards last night, I am heading to the game on Sunday and sitting in the all you can eat section.

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers' youth movement hit another milestone Saturday when 20-year-old left-hander Clayton Kershaw was promoted to the Major Leagues from Double-A Jacksonville.
Kershaw is expected to make his debut in a Sunday start against the St. Louis Cardinals. To make room for Kershaw on the 40-man Major League roster, the Dodgers activated Esteban Loaiza from the disabled list and designated him for assignment. To make room for Kershaw on the 25-man active roster, reliever Yhency Brazoban was optioned back to Triple-A Las Vegas.

By starting Kershaw on Sunday, Chad Billingsley, who has back-to-back seven-inning starts, and Hiroki Kuroda, who pitched eight innings in his last start, will gain an extra day of rest. The Dodgers' fifth-starter spot actually comes up Tuesday, but the club thought it best that Kershaw debut at home rather than at Wrigley Field.

Kershaw was 0-3 with a 2.28 ERA, 47 strikeouts, 15 walks and 32 hits allowed in 43 1/3 innings at Double-A Jacksonville, where his erratic workload was designed to preserve his arm for a pennant-race run in Los Angeles. Such unconventional treatment is indicative of how special the Dodgers consider their 2006 first-round Draft pick.

Kershaw jumped onto the Major League radar during a stunning Spring Training this year. Brought over from Minor League camp March 9, Kershaw allowed a home run to the first batter he faced in an exhibition game, and didn't allow another run in 14 innings, striking out 19 with three walks.

Management sent Kershaw back to Double-A Jacksonville anyway, with a mandate that he pitch no more than 25 innings a month to ration his arm for a possible pennant-stretch role in Los Angeles. He has pitched only 11 innings since May 2, including a one-inning start on Thursday.

Removing Loaiza from the picture effectively ends his brief and unhappy stint as a Dodger. He was claimed off waivers last Aug. 29 from Oakland, having made only two starts after being disabled for four months following operations on his back and right knee.

By doing so, the Dodgers assumed the remaining $1.2 million of his 2007 salary, a $6.5 million salary for 2008 and a $375,000 buyout of his 2008 salary of $7.5 million. For that, the Dodgers got one win last year and one win this year. Technically, the club has 10 days to move him, but it most likely will eat the remaining obligation and grant him his release. He had been disabled with stiffness in the shoulder blade and made one rehab appearance, but his velocity still hasn't returned from 2006.

Brazoban made only two appearances after being recalled May 9 to replace Loaiza, allowing two runs in three innings. He is on the rebound from shoulder and elbow operations the previous two seasons.

More news & notes per dodgers.com

LOS ANGELES -- After an unsuccessful pregame workout Saturday, Dodgers outfielder Andruw Jones decided to undergo surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache will operate on Jones on Tuesday. Recovery time is estimated at four to six weeks. He will be replaced on the roster by Terry Tiffee, who is hitting .422 at Triple-A Las Vegas, leading the Pacific Coast League.

To make room for Tiffee on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers moved Nomar Garciaparra to the 60-day disabled list, an indicator that his calf injury is not healing and still has not be definitively diagnosed. He won't be eligible to return until June 26.

Jones, who had never been disabled in a 12-year career, signed a two-year, $36.2 million contract with the Dodgers in December to provide the threatening bat the lineup had been missing.

"Hopefully, this not only will help him physically, but also help his game," said general manager Ned Colletti. "He took three days of rest, came back yesterday, but called Stan [Conte, trainer] and said he has to get it fixed. We need to get him back to the player he's been.

"I've contended all along his approach at the plate is impossible to hit with his rear leg collapsing."

Jones reported to Spring Training overweight and has shown none of the power the club envisioned. Last Sunday, Jones complained of knee pain and on Monday conceded he had been playing with discomfort "for months" but was confident he could play through the pain.

Jones had not played since Sunday until inserted into Friday night's game with runners on the corners and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, only to end the game with a strikeout. Jones is batting .165 with two home runs and seven RBIs. He also has 45 strikeouts in 133 at-bats and is 1-for-33 with runners in scoring positions.

andruw you BUM!

LOS ANGELES -- After suffering a setback in his return from a back injury on Thursday, Dodgers shortstop Rafael Furcal will not accompany the team on its trip to Chicago and New York next week.
Manager Joe Torre and trainer Stan Conte said the long plane flights provide the main reason for keeping Furcal grounded.

"Unless they move New York closer between now and Thursday, I'm not really certain that he'll make that," Conte said.

The shortstop will stay behind to get treatment and take part in a stabilization exercise program designed to make his back stronger. Third baseman Nomar Garciaparra will head to the 60-day disabled list to make room for outfielder Terry Tiffee, who will be called up for Andruw Jones as the outfielder heads for surgery. Garciaparra will also stay in Los Angeles for tests on his injured left calf, which has yet to be definitively diagnosed.

Furcal met with spine specialist Robert Watkins on Friday, who Conte said described the latest setback as a "flare up."

"You have to make sure, and I warned him all along that until you get on the field and are able to be that person just don't even try it," Torre said. "He's really one of those guys that needs to be 100 percent because of the position he plays and how he plays. He needs every movement and quickness and all that stuff to be perfect pretty much."

In other injury news, pitcher Jason Schmidt threw a bullpen session Friday in Phoenix and is scheduled to pitch Monday for Class A Inland Empire.

After throwing 34 pitches and giving up just one hit in 2 1/3 innings on May 17 for Inland Empire, Schmidt is expected to throw about 45 pitches depending on how the game goes.

"We are going for the Cal League Pitcher of the Week this time," Conte joked.

Backup catcher Gary Bennett, disabled with plantar fasciitis, leaves Sunday for extended Spring Training in Vero Beach, Fla., to work on his mental block returning throws to the mound. Bennett is expected to play games there before taking an official Minor League rehab assignment.
