sox bring in 2 big left handed bats and they're moving the right field fences in by 9 feet, Craford, Gonzalez, Ortiz = home run derby....

uhhhhhh can't that be said about every other team in baseball

yes, but it applies to the Sox more because they know what their offense will do. Their pitching has an injured past that is lingering with them. Beckett, Lackey, Dice-K, factor in Wakefield's age also Lester was hurting last season, so when your entire rotation has missed time a season ago, it's going to be the main area of concern.

Torii Hunter began recruiting Carl Crawford last July, when the Angels outfielder made sure the Tampa Bay star's locker was next to his for the All-Star game in Anaheim. He has kept in touch with the All-Star outfielder throughout the free-agent process this winter.

That courtship could have a happy ending for the Angels and Hunter, who expressed confidence Wednesday that Crawford would sign a lucrative contract with the Angels.

"I think the process is just about done, and hopefully we can land him this week," Hunter said by phone from his home in Texas. "The Angels are really trying. I know that for a fact."

Reportedly the Angels offered him 6 for 108, cmon now at least put in a competitive offer. They gotta go for Beltre now, and he's a Scott Boras client with all the leverage

The entire team was injured last year. Health is an issue regardless. I'm just as concerned about performance.

Boston grossly overpaid of Crawford (you can probably blame Werth for that), and there is a good chance they won't feel all that good in about 3 years when his speed is bound to decline. For the time being though, the Red Sox are going to be a problem. Crawford is going to mash the ball up there, I can just sense it

Yankees just signed Derek Jeter to 3yrs/$51m though.  Caption, icon, etc or not, I'd take the last 4 years of Crawford's contract over the next 3 of Jeter.

Jeter's contract is definitely in question (for both price and years), but he's on a totally different level, in terms of worth to the franchise.
