Bob Nightengale of USA Today told Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio on Monday that he thinks it's possible Francisco Liriano will be traded to the Yankees sometime in the next two weeks.

We've heard discussion about the Twins possibly trading Liriano from a variety of sources, so it appears this rumor has legs. The Yankees have an obvious need in their rotation, but the Twins would be trading away the closest thing they have to an ace at the moment. According to Nightengale, the Twins would acquire either Ivan Nova or Joba Chamberlain, in addition to other pieces. Stay tuned, because it sounds like things are about to get very interesting. His health may be the reason why the Twins are entertaining a possible trade with us. However, if the Yankees can get away with trading, say, Nova or Joba + anyone not apart of the Killer B's or Montero, I think you make that trade.

Cervelli out more than four weeks

Francisco Cervelli has a fracture in his foot and will be in a boot for at least four weeks.
Joe Girardi said this doesn’t change the plan for Jorge Posada, but could open a door for Jesus Montero or Austin Romine, or Gustavo Molina if the Yankees decide the kids aren’t ready.


Very unfortunate for Cervelli. I rather not see Posada catching at all, but then again, I rather not see Montero/Romine up for a week or two and then get sent down right away to AAA. No point in rushing one of them up to the majors, unless they appear ready when ST is over with.

any of y'all catch the game tonight? ManBan didn't look his best but you can definitely tell the potential is there. K'd Crawford on 3 pitches in the first, all swinging too. Put down Youk on a 3-2 change with the bases loaded if I remember correctly. gotta love the poise of the kid going to his change in that spot especially with someone like Youk at the plate. Jesus also had a double in the right center gap early in the game (oppo

) ..I really hope we hold onto him and let him play, gonna be some times we get frustrated but his ceiling is just

IMO.

ps. so odd seeing Ace in a Sox uni. I still don't get why we didn't even offer him a big league deal. I know we got pissed the way he rehabbed but dude was so clutch for us when he was healthy.
