To be fair, Carmelo is their guy. He didn't have it going today but what is he supposed to do? They were guarding him single coverage most of the time, he's the go to guy, so who else is supposed to take those shots?

A lot of those shots were the same shots he's been making for the past two months. They didn't go down today. However, if you are a team's franchise player being guarded one on one in a close out game, you have to be willing to take those shots, whether they go in or not. Some credit is due to Melo for not shying away from the moment and trying to seize it, even if it didn't happen in this particular game.

Pretty much puts everything to rest

10/35, 2 assist, 7 turnovers. Yikes.
that was my point..i cannot consider a player a mvp candidate...whose turnovers/force shots outweight their steals/assist/rebounds on a regular basis. Regardless of their point production, or offensive skillset.

Melo could have 40 points shoot 14/35..., take 30-40% of the teams shots, have 3 assist 1 rebound. 6 turnovers..no blocks....and about 10 series/points in a game when he made a selfish or illadvised decision on offense...but win by 20...and knicks fans will say hey melo played great. He was sensational.

Im sorry but imo that isnt a good game, or a well rounded game. thats just a guy who had a great scoring night. While it still may lead to a victory. this isnt mvp caliber performing.

Yup, and here's another one.

That's Durant, Wednesday night.

Everyone has off shooting games...the stupid decisions he made in the 4th, I'll give you, but people always wanna go extra after 1 game.

In regards to today's game, like I said. He's their franchise guy being guarded one on one,he's supposed to take those shots. Make or miss. There's some credit due to Melo for not shying away and sticking with it, even if his shot left him today. A lot of those shots are shots he's been making for the past two months. So yeah he had a bad shooting day, but in the end, he's their guy. He has to take those shots if he's being guarded one on one, and live with the results.

In regards to your post, if they are winning, then that's all that matters. Period. No matter his fga's, turnovers, whatever, if they win the game, that's all that matters. That's what's most important. He obviously is doing something right. 2nd in the conference. About to make a second round birth. Leading the league in scoring. That is the stuff of MVP. Facts are facts.

pass it to the guy who had it going for them in felton. even if he makes those ill advised shots..(sure they look good for sportscenter) but they still would have been poor shots. Hell even jordan if he had a less then stellar game and saw a kerr/paxson/etc... with the hot game he would defer to them...especially if they were down and they were the reason they got back in the game/made the game manageble.

melo today pretty much place them in a bad position, hit the bench, only for felton and the rest to get them back into the game. Told felton to take a backseat he got this.Went and had mile high flash backs, and pretty much put them in a losing position.

.

The fat point guard who got them back in the game. Melo knew he was cold, give up the ball and start creating for your teammates

what player has played this way and been an mvp...? especially when they are on a team that has ppl he can defer to. Hell even ai at mvp...kept his turnovers manageble, and did fairy decent to well in the steals/assist department, and those teams had nowhere near the talent this current knicks has.
