He dribbled to his left side, stepped right.

It's funny because this is exactly what I'm talking about. When he dribbles to his left side, THAT'S the gather. A gather is simply when the ball bounces back to your hand (completion of a dribble). That step right is the first step after the gather. He gets one more after that. He takes two. Traveling
 
A player who receives the ball while he is progressing or upon completion of a dribble, may take two steps in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball. A player who receives the ball while he is progressing must release the ball to start his dribble before his second step.

The first step occurs when a foot, or both feet, touch the floor after gaining control of the ball.

The second step occurs after the first step when the other foot touches the floor, or both feet touch the floor simultaneously.
 

He was taking a step AS he was completing the dribble, so he only took two steps. Now you gotta take an L you could have completely avoided. Why fam?
 
Looks like he plants right to fake while doing a cross over, then picks up with two hands for the euro.

First angle looks like he picks up the ball while planting right which he doesn't.
