Is this really any different than college basketball?

There are guys that lead the nation in scoring, Wooden award winners, all-americans, that wash out or don't make it either. You're not really supposed to evaluate talent based on personal accolades. There are quite a few guys who get called up that aren't necessarily burning it up in the D-League but fit whatever role they get called up for.
Yea D league all about showcasing specific skills to be an NBA role player of end of bench guy ...no NBA team is looking for somebody to become a star or leading scorer they the G league

If the salaries stay they way they are the G league and 2nd round picks are gonna be very important to teams smart enough to utilize the strategy or filling out the team with low salary/developmental guys after they get their big money stars ...teams like the heat and grizzlies have been doing this but they just ain’t execute the step of finding real stars to go with their G league guys they developing

The going rate for a top D-1 prospect is $100,000. Once the G-League starts paying that, then we'll talk.

For now, being the big man on campus at Duke/UNC/Kentucy+money from bagmen >>>> G-league money
If a top prospect signs with the D league they will be getting all that bagmen money n more just from acttually being able to sign enderosemnt n other deals ...would rather do that than have to find indirect ways to get my money, fake like I gotta go to class, have to worry bout the NCAA rules and play in systems like the 2-3 zone etc ...Zion on a g league team with an adidas deal would be eating real good

Only reason they still go to college is tradition and n kids scared of being exposed in the Gleague

Only reason they still go to college is tradition

This is the only reason. It's hard to take power away when old money is involved. It'll take a few trailblazers before you see top kids going the G-League route on a regular basis.

Sorta like how HS entry into the draft had BEEN allowed for 20 years before KG, but he set of a domino effect that the league had to react to.

Actually...wouldn't that mean that Nike, Adidas, and UA can now endorse the same players over the table instead of under it?

True but keep in mind that boosters pay players to play at their school and don't care about the NBA. Those are the folks that put Marvin Bagley's family in a new house while he was at Duke.

Another reason that players like going the college route is because they're around other 18-19 year olds. In the G league, you're playing with grown men. When they go to 21 and over spots, you can't go. You're not the prized recruit that everyone is catering to. You're not playing in packed arenas. You're in the back of the bus on the way to Omaha, Nebraska playing in half empty stadiums.

It's a much different experience is all I'm saying.

How is $35k to play basketball for 6-7 months too low?

These guys aren't generating any money.

This. No one is buying these guys jerseys, paying top prices for courtside seats, nothing. This is strictly a farm system. 35k to play basketball for 6 months is more than enough.

Bud sees Atlanta going nowhere anytime soon and a brighter future in PHX. Not even mad at him looking out for himself.

Bud is an Arizona native.

Sarver paying top dollar for a head coach, that's surprising if it happens.

If Ayton or whoever Phoenix is able to get can make a big impact, that wouldn't be a bad team with Bud coaching.

“Push me to the edge all my friends are dead”
We bout to reach a whole new level of bad if we lose Bud

#1 pick, Booker, Josh Jackson, ton of overrated assets to flip (Chriss, Bender, Len, Ullis), and enough for a max. Not going anywhere anytime soon either, but a much better situation than Atlanta.

Book/jj/ayton is very complimentary. Don't know if those other assets are worth much tho

They probably aren't. Hopefully for them, one or two of them can be a solid rotational guy. They are going to have cap space in the coming years though and have a mid-round first this year too.

The Suns are awful, but could become good really quick. Book is it, Josh Jackson looks like he may be a player, they have a ton of picks, cap space, and although they don't land the big fishes in FA they always get in the room seemingly.

Still applies

Josh Jackson, Book, This year's #1, #16, #31, #59, Cap space, Coach Bud?

Not bad Phx, not bad. Out of all of the awful teams in the league, they are the ones that can get good quick. Always getting into the room in FA, even with them being trash.

Phx still 2 years from sniffing the playoffs, minimum. Seems like they haven't gotten better at all the past 5 years, possibly worse
