Crazy. If you can believe...the summer before that Kevin was only 6'3. He went from 6'3 to 6'8 overnight it seemed like.
UNC really dropped the ball with Durant. Him and Ty were a done deal.
you read other stuff and he says that he really wanted to go to Gtown but didnt and if ucla would of recruited him harder he was going thereKD was supposed to go to UNC ?
LinkNets Show Interest in Blatche
The Nets’ ongoing search for frontcourt depth has led them to Houston, and a meeting with Andray Blatche, who was cut this summer by the Washington Wizards.
Blatche, 26, has been working out in Houston with a number of other N.B.A. players, under the guidance of John Lucas. He was set to meet with Nets Coach Avery Johnson sometime this weekend, according to two people with knowledge of the meeting. It was not clear whether the Nets were prepared to make Blatche an immediate offer or were simply exploring their options.
The Wizards severed ties with Blatche in July, using the N.B.A.’s amnesty provision to remove his $23 million contract from the salary cap. Blatche will still be paid his full salary by the Wizards, so he is likely to sign for the minimum wherever he lands.
Blatche, a 6-foot-11 power forward, entered the N.B.A. straight from high school in 2005 and was drafted by Washington with the 49th pick. His athletic gifts have been offset by immaturity, erratic play and a suspect work ethic. Washington cited Blatche’s poor conditioning as the official reason for holding him out of a game against the Nets in March.
Blatche played in only 26 of the Wizards’ 66 games last season, averaging 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting a career-low 38 percent from the field.
The Nets have 13 players under contract, but they could use another big body behind center Brook Lopez and power forward Kris Humphries.
well, he only wen there for a year so it's not that big of a loss.
you read other stuff and he says that he really wanted to go to Gtown but didnt and if ucla would of recruited him harder he was going there
He never was heading anywhere local
It was UNC all the way from 10th grade on up. I never got the whole story but an incident went down behind the scenes w/ Kevin, Steve Smith, and Roy Williams and the aftermath was Kevin leaving Oak Hill and UNC rescinding their offer. Ty and KD were supposed to be a package deal all the way.
I have faith that they know what theyre doing 3 years from now people will look back and say "Wow the Spurs made a great move"The San Antonio Spurs have hired former New York Knicks president and general manager Scott Layden as an assistant GM, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Layden had been an assistant coach with the Jazz, and replaces Dennis Lindsey, who left the Spurs to become Utah’s GM last month.
Front-office jobs with the Spurs are considered golden in the NBA, largely because of the chance to work under GM RC Buford and president-coach Gregg Popovich. In recent years, Spurs assistant GMs – including Lindsey, Danny Ferry, Sam Presti and Dell Demps – have taken a fast-track to becoming top executives elsewhere.
Layden had a well-regarded run as the Jazz GM, before embarking on a tumultuous 4½-year stay in New York in 1999. As Jazz GM from 1992-99, Layden’s draft picks and deals played a significant part in the organization’s two trips to the NBA Finals and three straight 60-victory seasons.
One of Layden’s primary responsibilities will be administering the Spurs’ scouting department.
Houston Rockets VP of Player Personnel Gersson Rosas had also been a serious candidate for the Spurs job, league sources said.
