I figure it won't... But I have reservations about giving every big player $20+mil..  Especially because he won't be our #1. And although I'd make him the #2. Girardi may even put him as a #3..

$16-17 mil  as compared to the $22 he will probably get per year is a drop in the bucket but still...
What you and others with your mentality need to understand is that it goes beyond age and production with Jeter. While I agree that's stupid it's the truth, Jeter is a brand...much like the Yankees...he holds so much weight not only with the franchise, but it's image, HIS image in New York and most of all with the fans. People, kids buy tix to go see JETER more than they go see the Yankees. He is a living legend amongst the Yankee lure.

His contract will dictate not his worth on the field, but his value within the stands, on the field, off of it + all his marketing.

4 years 20 mil...it's crazy but it's Jeter, there is no 2 ways about that.

I was talking about Lee.. Probably should have specified more....

In terms of Jeter.............. It doesn't matter but in reality I'd rather overpay him to keep the contract 3-4 years, then getting a hometown discount and have to do 6 years...

I'm no expert, but Arroyo sucks, and is a product of the NL. Dude is a homerun machine...he can keep that high leg kick in the NL.

We don't need another Vasquez project.

A lot depends on Lee, and Pettitte...for the sake of the argument lets say both do not come/back to the Yankees...

There really isn't any pitcher that can help, looking from the surface in the 2011 FA other than Lee...maybe if Webb is fully healthy but I doubt it.

We need to focus on getting Lee at all costs and then we can work from there.

My biggest want is Adam Dunn...he would be amazing in Yankee Stadium...he can DH, and play 1st...but we have old %#% Posada that will be taking up the DH spot.

Honestly the FA crop has about 5 big names...the rest is really average

Mussina as pitching coach? I dunno, he doesn't seem like that type.

Lee wasn't so good in the world series because he was pitching on too much rest in game 1. In the other game he pitched, I dunno where he went wrong. The Giants just seemed to really hit him a lot better in two games than the Yankees ever did in two years.

There's only one guy who wants Arroyo in a Yankee uniform: Mike Francesa.

We need to start developing a starter to be a future #1..

If Pettitte comes back (we have C.C., Burnett, Hughes & Pettitte)..

We could go after Lee and have 5 solid.. But either way we need a good 23-25 year old to come in and start soon. A la Chen Meing Wang...

Moseley is already 30 this upcoming season

Yankees are done for the foreseeable future. Not done as in "they suck" but the best they'll be is a weak playoff team.

I know Yankee fans are gonna deny this but this is the reality. The Yankees had a great run for a decade and this cycle is over.

that all depends on what they do this offseason..

Could give them an extra 5 years depending on what they do

How can you possibly say this and believe it?

On what basis are you making this statement?
